Angry What arent I losing any lbs?

Help me please. okay first let me tell you that I have lost about 25 lbs on the Atkins program with very little exercise. So in the last 2 months I have been working out. I started off with the bike and treadmill, increased to walking faster and uphill and now for the last 2 weeks I have been jogging/walking for 40 min at the gym 3-4 times a week and I also walk fast at lunch for 30 min 3 days a week. I am planning on visiting some old friends in a month and I was hoping to lose 10 lbs before I saw them. I have only lost 1 lb in last month and half. yeah yeah I know muscle weighs more then fat. I dont measure...bad shrtsh1t...I know. I have noticed a very ...and I mean very....slight differance in the way my clothes are fitting. But I seem to lose more fat (lbs) when I wasnt working out. I know this cannot be possible. I will not give up my working out but my question is ....when are these lbs going to go away. I dont like them.

Some thoughts. First, with all of your exercise you may not be eating enough calories. Essentially the exercise may be telling your body to conserve calories because it is not getting enough nutrition. Some trainers will recommend a high/low regime. For three days eat at the lower end of your calorie range and then on the fourth day eat more calories. Second, change your exercise routines. The body adapts to exercise which means you need to increase the intensity to get the heart rate up. For a big guy like me this could lead to joint problems and pain. My trainer has me switch up my cardio every 4 or 5 weeks. He just switched me away from the bike and has me on the stair master. Now after about 5 minutes of stairs my heart rate is where it was after 25 minutes on the bike. Third, think about taking supplements. Some studies suggest chromium may help the body better manage sugars and thus help with weight loss. Try spreading your nutrition through out the day (5 or six small meals vs 3). Up your fluids.

I would suggest you measure. Remember 1lb of Muscle is smaller then 1lb of fat. I bet you are gaining muscle and losing fat.

Another thought - add resistance training to your workout routine. Lifting weights builds muscle which in turn raises your metabolism while at the same time reshapes your body. Take some time when you have it and read through the stickies at the top of this forum - there is much amazing advice compiled from tons of postings - I found it an invaluable reference tool.

Good luck and enjoy the process!
