Default I just want to say...

I haven't visited the board in a while, because I have been busy with school. However, I am sticking to maintenance. I was tempted with all kinds of treats at xmas~at work and while visiting my parents. I was also tempted at work with a cake for a co-worker. I kind of felt like I was insulting the person who bought the cake and maybe even the person that was having the b-day.

It was soo easy to resist though. I knew how sleepy I would feel after eating the goodies so I refused to give in. Well, I did have little nibbles of some processed stuff.

The point is that I am still on maintenance and haven't thrown it out the window. You can maintain!

Good for you!!!!
Next time just accept the cake and say 'I just can't eat this right now, I can't wait to dig into it tonight'. When you get home put a fork in it so that you can say you actually dug into it. And pitch it....... Everybody's happy and you win !
Great job!

Well done! Maintaining is such a great challenge to tackle. You seem to be doing incredibly well. Especially with cake and other goodies dangling right in front of you. haha Congrats.

Great strategy! I don't like to sound sanctimonious, and I don't like answering questions about "my diet," so this is a perfect solution. And if a little voice tells you that you shouldn't waste food, tell the voice that it's not food, it's junk. By accepting it, you've not only made the giver happy, you've saved someone else.

The birthday cake at work thing is one of my all-time "issues". Not only do we havemonthly birthday cake, we are all supposed to chip in money for this every month; one of the (VERY heavy) ladies in the office comes around and bullies us for cash if we fall behind in "contributions". I refuse to donate. Now, if they're doing something special otherwise (one of our docs was very sick once in ICU and they took up $$$ to get together a meal for his wife and daughter) I'm ready to pitch in.

But everybody knows I don't eat the cake. When I do decide to eat cake, it's the really good stuff that I order from a custom bakery in town and it's got to be a very special occasion.

I actually did tell them I'd take a piece home, because I had school and a test. I told them, since I am not eating a lot of sugar, the rush coming down would make me sleepy the rest of the day. I didn't want to be snoozing through the rest of the day at work and my test. They accepted that.

The few processed items I had were really nibbles at my sister's house on xmas. It was like a teaspoon of stuffing.
