I stopped taking acetaminophen back in the 90s, and I'm lucky it wasn't too late. I was taking it by the bucket load when I was on my feet all day between school and work, and my back was killing me. I was also a party girl and I had no idea it caused any problems when combined with alcohol, even though I never took them together.
I watched a talk show with a guest trying to raise awareness about the issue. He was taking cold meds and was a glass-of-wine-a-day drinker, and he ended up with a liver transplant. I think he sued the drug company because they knew (or should have known) that the risk is more serious than what's on the label.
