Smile Fernie, not Fern!

Hi Folks,

I thought I'd introduce myself--I've been lurking here for some time. I'm a week into my first CKD (no carb-up last weekend); things are going very well. I'm looking forward to this weekend and a 24-36 hour carb up.

Question: what is the worst thing I can do to screw myself up? Hopefully, if you all tell me what you've done, then I won't repeat that mistake!! I'll just make my own, thank you very much!

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you--you've been inspirational, even if you didn't know it!

Fernie (not Fern, but also a Lynda--go figure!)

Dont pig out on junk food during carb up..
Pretty obvious but everyone makes that mistake more often than not.

Thanks Randy and Fern!

I am absolutely loving this CKD so far--we'll see how I feel about it on Sunday after the carb up. I've read everything I can find on the subject, but have to wait for Lyle's book to come from Amazon. So I'm following the CKD parameters to the letter for fat, protein and carb numbers. If I follow them during carb-up I should be okay, right?

I know we want to get high GI carbs during the first part of the carb up. Other than Gatorade type drinks (yuck), what would be some good choices? I hate the idea of eating a lot of sugar.

Also, do you guys eat the fruit before the depletion workout on Friday? Does it make a difference?

Thanks for your help!

Fernie

P.S. Hi, Fern! I'm near Pittsburgh

Thanks, Fern. That helped. I guess after years of doing different diets I'm having a hard time deciding that eating sugar is okay! I'm definitely going to plan the carb up so it doesn't get out of hand--I want the results way too much to screw it up the first weekend!

It's good to know that we Fern(ie)s have the state of Pennsylvania covered!

Lynda
