Which scales are most accurate? Digital scales or standard scales?

I'm looking for one, so I'll be watching this thread. I will buy digital, not because I think they are better, but the little lines between the "tens" in my standard scale are too close and most of the time I'm not sure if it is in the two's, the three's or where. I just would like to have one big fat red number telling me "this is it"...

I prefer my digital. I get a real number, and can't kink my head from side to side to fake myself out. I'm not sure if they both work on springs or not, but my digital scale seems more accurate to me. I want one like Tater's that weighs and gives a bodyfat estimate.

I had a regular one but disliked the variations due to not being able to see the lines very well.

I went a purchased the cheapest digital that Walmart sells and am very happy. It registered the exact same weight as my doctors scale did (weighing within 20 minutes of eachother) so I'm very happy with it.

I have used a digital since 1989. As a matter of fact, I still have that first scale, and used it when I started this diet.

But a few days ago I went to WalMart and bought another one. The old scale is metal and is rather small. I wanted something that was a bit bigger with a read out in .5 of pounds.

I think I spent like 30 bucks on this thing and it works great.

I have standard scales now, but the lines are usually hard to read. I also have to set them five pounds up to match my grocery store scales. Seems like digital is the preferred choice around here so Ill start looking for a good digital scale. Does anyone have a suggestion? Denise Austin advertises one but I dont remember the name of them. Ill see if I can catch it this morning while the kids are getting ready for school.

I think I saw Denise Austin's yesterday at Walmart, I don't remember the price, but it was over $30. They had other digital ones for $22-$29. The one that measured body fat was almost $40. I believe PotatoFree got hers at K-Mart.

My dad runs a company that manufactures weighing devices...from scales they sell to gyms to intricate devices for NASA. He told me digital is way more accurate b/c most normal scales generally aren't calibrated correctly. Hope this helps.

If theres not a big difference in the digitals all together, I probably will just pick up one at WalMart or Kmart. I saw one advertised at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I think, and it was pretty expensive.

rrmalns - Just head to WalMart and look at what they have. No real need in paying for a name just too weigh yourself. Mine cost about $30 and it has the brand name of "Health O Meter" on it.

It's is BIG.... lots of space for your feet and it calibrates itself everytime you turn it on......

I had a digital scale when I started this WOE, it would give me different numbers for one second to the next. And the sad thing was off by 5.5 pounds compared to the doctor and gym scales. ICK.

Now I use a slide scale almost like the doctors office.

Definitely digital. I just got one and am very happy with it. My digital scale is very accurate. I don't know why I waited so long to get one.
