Today was easy, too easy. Thought it might be a struggle like yesterday, but no. Couldn't finish meal today, left steak and eggs and bacon on plate. Made a cinnamon bun for one....couldn't finish it.



MY PLAN:

Eat OMAD 5 days, weekends 2-3 times.
Work in 2 or more 5- day- vegan- fast.

I'm off by a minus sign. I've had enough of a calorie deficit the last two days to lose well over a pound and yet I've gained well over a pound. Clearly our bodies don't know how to do math right.

ROFL 🤣 yup, our body took a different math class.

One source talked about water filling the fat cells as they emptied the fat stores.....never found more about that theory so take with grain of salt. 😂

This happens to me all the time. I've heard what Ms. Arielle has said a couple times before about those stinkface fat cells. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that is truly the case! The jerks. Hang in there.

Did perfect. But weekdays aren't my problem. I think on the weekends at least for the first couple ones, I'm going to give myself a bonus point if I actually succeed as an extra mental carrot. I have to nail the weekends down. They ruin all my progress during the week.

Jess,---- ADF has it's benefits even if your weekends are not perfect. Several studies out now. Eating double the next day in the mice study still had measurable benefits. I marvel at those that can do ADF, OMAD is the closest I can do, right now.

So that theory has been pretty firmly dispelled as yet another example of someone, somewhere dreaming up a mechanism that sounds plausible and then it becoming accepted as gospel fact in short order. But when they used radio-tagged water to see where it actually went, it did not collect in empty fat cells.

On the other end of the spectrum, some anti-LC folks used that study as proof that the whole notion of a "whoosh" is a fantasy (and made bogus claims about what the ketogenic crowd claimed and made out as if the whoosh concept only applied to ketogenic diets and also also talk as if it only applies to the initial quick loss that is commonly seen).

Well, how many tens of thousands of people (millions?), ketogenic or not, experience weight loss in fits and starts and even gains all the while staying faithful to their plan?

I don't know what the actual mechanism is, but my best guess is that the body (which is always retaining or releasing water) is merely trying to do its best to maintain a balance of lots of different things, such as electrolytes, and that is always a moving target. When you are actively changing your body, such as losing (or gaining) fat or building muscle, or switching between ketosis and glucosis, they body has to adjust and it tends to overshoot and rebound in both directions.

Considering that a half cup of water is about a quarter pound and that this represents a 7.5 lb/mo change, it's not hard to see that minor changes in water balance have a significant impact on scale weight.

It's all transient and we just have to wait it out. I've gotten pretty good at that. What used to be devastating is now simply annoying (and it will always be annoying).

My protocol isn't true ADF like that. I wish! I have to eat every day at dinner at least or hubby gets all up in my business. I do 18:6, 3 days a week at low calories. Then 2 at middle calories and the other 2 are a little higher to accommodate spousal impetuousness on the weekends when he isn't working. It's more like a modified JUDDD.
