Question Determined - but missing fruit

The start of a New Year and lots of personal changes going on in my life. Discipline and the willingness to not let things get me down are what have brought me to this site.

My one problem seems to be the lack of fruit that is allowed. Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions for me?

Hi Angelina. I've moved your post out of Confessions and into the Newbies Questions since this is your first post.

Once you intellectually resolve your dilemma - fruit is not necessary - and go through the two week induction period, your energy level will be so great that you will see that fruit is really not that important.

Fruit is a form of sugar and with low carbing, all forms of sugar are avoided.

Give the program a month to work it's magic on you. You'll see how much you've gained by it. You may think you want fruit now, but you don't need it.

With Protein Power and later on in the Atkins program, small amounts of berries are allowed. With Sommersizing, fruit is eaten in the morning.

Under Quick Links at the right hand side of the page is a link to 'Which Plan is Right for Me.' You may want to peruse it and choose another plan if you can't resolve your problem.

If it's fruit flavour you miss, Dr Atkins does permit sugar-free gelatin dessert with a little whipped heavy cream during the induction phase. As Karen pointed out, you may have a portion of lowcarb fruits at later stages of the program.

There is absolutely NO nutrient in fruits that is not also in vegetables .. except SUGAR. Veggies are full of vitamins, minerals, fiber and water. And technically, cucumbers, zucchinis, bell peppers, olives, avocadoes, tomatoes, eggplant ... these are all botanically FRUITS, because they contain the seeds.
