I am going to start the atkins diet (induction) and I am planning to eat eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers and meats only. Also I will take some vitamin tablets.

My first question is if those foods are ok to eat and which vitamins and minerals do I need to take??

My second question is if I do exercise (play football and exercise biking) while doing this diet will I lose weight quicker??

Thanks

Hi Welcome to the board!

Though the foods you listed are 'legal' for induction it is a very limited list. Is there any reason you are only choosing to eat those few items?

Personally I would get fed up with only those - no cheese, no butter, no cream, no mushrooms, no peppers, no celery, no radishes, no broccollo, no cauliflower, no onions, no pumpkin, no rhubarb, no celeriac, no turnips, no spaghetti squash, no avocado, no olives etc

In his books Dr Atkins listed the vitamins/minerals he reckoned we should take, so maybe look in your copy and find a brand that contains them?

As for exercise, it is a part of Atkins so needs to be done, but there is much debate about whether it actually increases weightloss. I like to exercise because it makes me feel better overall.

Hi! I myself just started Induction yesterday and must say I think your menu choices are quite limiting. My fear for you would be that you would bore of these things easily and get off track. I would definitely get to the library and find a copy of Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution. Its a GODSEND if you are truly committed to weight loss and following his plan. Induction can be incredible and there really is so many things you can eat freely and creatively! As for exercise, I agree with PP in that it may or may not increase your weight loss, but it will surely make you feel better overall.
Good luck and keep us posted!
