Does anyone know if you can take Xenical while doing atkins. Apparently it removes 30% of the fat you eat and does not allow it to be absorbed by your body. It is a product by Roche Pharm.
I have been on Atkins for about 4 weeks lost about 5 kilo's initially and now cannot budge, even though, I am exercising more and feel that I am pretty much following the plan. (although if anything, I think I am having too much cream).

I took Xenical BEFORE LCing, and if I even had a little "too much" (conventional low-fat/high carb diet) fat in a meal--boy, did I pay for it I would think, with the much higher fat consumption with this way of eating, it would just about kill you . All of the side effects that you've read/heard about, multiplied many times over. I would definitely NOT recommend taking Xenical while LCing.

Kat, I dug up and old post on xenical that you might want to read through - pretty scary stuff.

http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...ghlight=xenical

5 kilos is very respectible Fat loss on LC tends to be very much ups and downs. This can be attributed to the fact that it tends to be fat loss and not just weight loss. Your body needs time to adjust to its new weight and size. My advice is to keep doing what you've been doing (it is obviously working!) and make sure you're eating enough and drinking enough.

Have you considered starting up a journal in the "my journal / bootcamp" section of the forum? It would be a good place to keep track of menus and exercise and others would be able to offer advice and input as well as support.

Cheers,
Nat

Hey Natrushka and Nikkil,

Thank you for your replies, I am sorry it is so belated. I have just spotted your responses. I have lost about 15 kilos although this does bounce around by about a kilo. Thanks for the advise on Xenical, I consulted my doctor, (who I must say was very negative about low carb initial). I have been getting the recommended blood test ie cholestrol...and all the test have shown an improvement. Even my GP has lightened up a bit about my LC regime. Anyway....still can't move from the 15 kilos but I hope to get back on track.

Thanks again, I appreciate your replies, and have taken your advise.
