Default Cooked Protein Powder?

This might sound like a strange question BUT... Has anyone ever cooked Protein Powder? I am thinking of putting it in the base of Donalds Deep Dish Pizza {He will probably kill me! }. I thought it might be similar to flour {its plain, not flavoured} and increase the protein percentage as well. I dont know if cooking would affect the nutritional value of the protein or not? Does anyone think this will work?

Many recipes use protein powder in them - yes, it changes the protein, but so does cooking ANY protein. Go ahead and experiment, but I would caution against using the chocolate flavoured powders

You can't use protein powder cup for cup as a substitute for flour. Think of it as a "glue" for all the other ingredients.

It contains no gluten, so it will not rise like flour. The texture can be rubbery if too much is used and I find it requires a lot of fat - butter, nut butters, etc. to give it a good texture. It is best used in small amounts and cautiously with other ingredients like soy flour, flaxmeal, gluten flour, etc.

I've used it successfully in cookies and halvah and recently made a cheesecake for Marlaine and Ruth with Creamsicle flavoured Protein Powder.

I'm just about to make it, so thought I would check to see if I got any other advise...

I am just going to put 1/2 cup in with the egg/cheese mixture in a Deep Dish Pizza base. I dont want it to rise, so thats okay. The fat in the cheese should help with the texture.

We'll see how I go... I am not a good cook at the best of times, let alone trying an experiment!

Thumbs up Low carb success

It worked It worked

Its hard enough for me to get a tried and true receipe to work!

I would even go as far as saying that the crust is better with the protein powder! It will certainly enhance the protein percentages anyway.

A question about pepperoni.... How long does it keep in the fridge after the roll has been opened? Mine looked "off" so I didnt use it... used left over cooked ground beef instead. Its good, but not quite as tasty.

Default Fitday percentages

Just went to Fitday and input the ingredients... came out really good

404 calories
53% fat 23.3g
6% carbs 6.3g
41% protein 40g

Actually Karen... it is the same recipe as Donald posted with the ingredients tweeked towards more protein i.e.
Added 1/2c protein powder {plain}
Light cheese and cream cheese {carb count is the same as regular}
1% milk instead of cream {only because I used the last of the cream last night}
Ground beef instead of pepperoni... it looked "off"

MY toppings were:
2C light cheese
1/3c red peppers
1/3c green peppers
1C cooked ground beef
1/2c hunts tomato sauce
4 1/2" green onion

I'm not sure how to put the link in to the Deep Dish Pizza?
