Default The Great Toronto May 2-4 challenge

What's at stake? Well, nothing... except you lookin' good by May 24 long weekend.

What's the prize for losing? Well, nothing... but I suggest you pick something you've always wanted and if you reach your May 24 goal- go out and BUY IT! cause you DESERVE it!

We'll start on Friday, April 11th (give some time for some more of us Torontonians to get on board)

On Friday, April 18th ...each of us will post their weight loss from April 11-18th)

Sound good? No cheaters!! For those who don't lose maybe we can help; so be honest.

Any other suggestions are welcome!

Wahooooooo I'm getting motivated already.

Default Yipeeee!!

I can feel the pounds melting off as we speak...this is just what I need, I tend to be a little competitive (she says with a grin) by nature and this is just what I need - thanks for starting the separate thread Riddler.

Jude, I'd be interested in a walking club. Where in TO are you located? I'm in the Yonge & Eglinton area - no car.

Hi Riddler

My husband and I are in for the challenge. A walking club would be nice. We live in Newmarket so it maybe to far away.

We work out at home with a tredmill, home gym and free weights. I also use a jump rope. If anyone knows some good exercises I am interested in this also.

I usually walk from Avenue Rd and Wilson Ave to Avenue Rd
and Lawrence. There is a school there with a track. I don't know the name of the school though.

Is that a long enough walk for you Tiffany31? Thought it might be 1/2 way for both of us.

We could meet there and do the track once or twice and go for some chicken wings! (just kidding on the wings)

Jude? anyone else?

Default Perfect.

Sounds good to me. Let me know when you want to start and I'll be there. This weekend I'm gone to my dad's, other than that I'm ready to start whenever.

Hi Everyone,

I'm game for the Avenue Rd walk, (is there a Wing Machine on the route?) but I was thinking perhaps a "walk in the park"....say, Edwards Gardens or Allen Gardens..whatever. I'm in Scarboro, but I do drive--or I don't mind taking TTC to meet somewhere.

Also, here's a link to several "Discovery Walks" throughout the city that might be worth a look.

http://www.city.toronto.on.ca/parks...cover_index.htm

I work 4 days, but with the longer days of summer coming, I'm ok with evenings or weekends (except Easter). How's everyone else's schedule?

Hey Torontonians, where are you? Surely there are more than just us few willing to take up the challenge!

Hi Jude:
I'm kind of stuck to my "reg" route as my time is VERY tight these months. I can always seem to get this walk in on an almost daily basis but anything else I'm afraid its just not possible.
(work, school...)

Discovery Walks would be great though! Thanks for the link.

Thumbs up

Newbie checking in here.

I've been looking for some group motivation for awhile. I registered in anticipation of starting in January but for various reasons (legitimate and not-so) have put it off. Count me in.

I'm also game for the walking group. I'm out in Scarboro (Morningside/Kingston Rd) and usually walk an 1/2 to an hour in the morning and longer on weekends.

AJ

Hi Riddler,

It's too bad your time is so limited right now...but that doesn't stop us continuing with your original challenge of weighing in every week....starting tomorrow morning (I'm practicing holding my stomach in now--does that help, I wonder?). Maybe sometime soon if you have a free weekend we can try one of those discovery walks.

BTW are are we picking a goal weight for May 24 or just recording our weekly losses? (or gains, I hope not!)

Hey AJ...we're practically neighbours. I'm at Brimley & St Clair. Any good "walk in the park" places near you? Back in the fall, I met Nancy (HLFAN) from the forum at a park at Brimley & Lawrence. We just sat and talked that day, but I think that park goes all the way up to Ellesmere and McCown with easy walking paths.

No fair, Sammi! You've had weeks of beautiful spring weather ahead of us for walking--we're just getting rid of that dirty white stuff. (Thank goodness, finally this winter seems to be on the way out.)
