Default America Braces for Possible French Fry Shortage

This will not be a problem for me or, most likely, any of us on this forum.

That is a significant drop in production. Once frost touches a potato it thaws and goes to mush.

We dont buy french fries at the grocery. Kids visiting with friends of course go to Mc D.

Here , we planted 100 pounds of seed potato last spring. Late fall, Kids dug most of them and got them into storage. Early frosts ruined many of the souds still in the ground.

Teens loved the mashed potatoes. And even rendered beef fat to fry hand cut potatoes..... boy, .....just the best.

My kids dont have weight problem, but Im trying to encourage root crops instead of grain products.

I occasionally get sweet potato fries, but that's even less likely now with my VLC regimen. It's very clear my thumbs don't like nightshades; cautiously cut everything back to tomato sauce, which is on probation in small amounts, like a condiment.

I read someplace recently that the current popular style of banana (Cavendish) is soon to be no more as a fungus or something spreads world-wide and wipes it out as one did its predecessor banana breed in the 1950's the Cavendish was bred to replace. Will be interesting to see where that goes. Fortunately won't happen before my child graduates and no longer packs a banana for lunch. No problem here, as bananas have too much sugar for me and potatoes too much starch.

Z, I had heard this, too. To be enjoyed until they are no more. California grows a huge variety of bananas but those cant handle the shipping so availability is local only. CA will continue to enjoy bananas for a long time.

My teens like this frozen:
2 bananas
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup cocoa powder

Microwave or freeze then thaw bananas. Put in food processor. Process into mush. Blend in other ingredients. Scrape into a jar and freeze.

Eat like icecream...only it is far more filling..
