Default Roast Beef

Hi,

I have just come back from Supermarket shopping and noticed that the shaved Roast Beef I bought has no calorie/carb breakdown (just bought from deli section)

It does however list the ingredients - One of them is Maltodextrin Thickener (407) and Hydolised Vege protein (soy) Why would they put this in/on Roast Beef. Any Ideas how many carbs I should use for this?. I have about 150 grams

Thank you for any help
Geri

I checked on fitday and this is what I found:

Beef, sliced, prepackaged or deli, luncheon meat
1 slice (1 oz) 4" x 4" x 3/32" thick
Carbs = 1.62 grams

Hope this helps.

Heaven knows why they put such stuff in roast beef. I have no idea about Maltodextrin Thickener (407), but the Hydrolised Vege protein (soy) is probably a flavour enhancer.

Thumbs up

Many deli roast beefs are marinated before roasting and some have preservatives. I get mine from my deli and although a bit pricier, the deli manager "bakes" it right there in the store and it is pure meat Love hot roast beef w/homemade gravy or melted cheese....yum!
