hi all,

For those of you that follow the 6-12-12 rule, do you have any sample meals that follow the guidelines?

Thanks!

Thumbs down Bernstein's diet plan

Locarb SlimFast only has 2 net carbs.
bacon,eggs.
meat,veggies.
It's fairly easy to come up with a diet for Dr B's plan.
I doubt if very many people stick to this plan.
The required diet is too restrictive and boring.
Just my opinion
Eddie

It can be followed by sticking to low carb proteins, fats, no breads, grains.

Eggs for breakfast.

Salad for lunch with oil and vinegar with perhaps some coldcuts mixed in and make a nice chef's salad.

No fruits.

No pasta.

I can do it when I want to do so.

Generally, I go for more carbs and still control my BG pretty well.

Remember Dr. B's 6-12-12 is really aimed at a type 1 diabetic.

As as Type 2 I have some more leeway. I make sure my BG don't swing above 120-140. I correct with bolus insulin if it goes above. For it to go above I am having a whole lot more carbs.

I generally keep my carbs in the 30-60 range easily.

Hope this helps.

Ralph

Hi there all,

I am perfectly able to keep my carbs low- even lower than B recommends. What I am wondering is if there are meals that are *specifically* 6 or 12 carbs that people eat.

Dr. B has a companion book that goes along with the Diabetes Solution and it is his Diabetes Diet.

Perhaps you might be interested in purchasing this book.

I haven't looked at it in awhile.

He does lay out various meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner that follows his 6-12-12 regimen.
