Default Candice’s Low Carb Vanilla Bean Pots De Creme(Crème Brulée with out the burned top)

Candice’s Low Carb Vanilla Bean Pots De Creme(Crème Brulée with out the burned top)

Just as good as a full carb Crème Brulée only you don’t get the burned sugar on top As much as I used to love that, I don’t really miss being I am actually able to eat nice rich Crème Brulée! Yum Yum Yum!
Hope you enjoy!!

http://www.ticklemysweettooth.com/blog/?p=212

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:
2 cups half and half(or you can use heavy or light cream)*
1/4 cup + 3 Tablespoons granulated Splenda
1 whole vanilla bean, scrapped
5 egg yolks

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325F

In small heavy bottom pot combine cream, 1/4 cup Splenda, and vanilla bean(add all the inside scrapping as well at the bean it’s self to pot)
Heat on med/high heat until almost simmering.
Remove from heat and let slightly cool.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks and 3 Tablespoons Splenda until pale and thick by hand. Takes less then a minute.

Slowly add hot cream mixture to egg yolks. I add about 1/2 cup slowly to temper the mixture, whisking quickly. Then add the rest still quickly whisking.

Strain though fine mesh strainer then divide mixture between 4 - 6oz ramekins.
Place in a water bath and bake at 325F for 30-35 minutes. (I use a 13”x9” to fit all 4 and use hot/boiling water for water bath)

Cool to room temperature in pan before placing in refrigerator to finish cooling. Serve completely cold.

*I use half and half because I watch my calories in maintenance. If you don't mind all the calories in heavy cream, use it.

Nutritional information per 1 serving(using half and half):
Energy 225 kcal
Carbohydrate, Total 8.46 g
Sugars, total 0.32 g
Protein 6.94 g
Total lipid (fat) 19.56 g

I'll second that! You're a wonderful dessert chef, Candice! I'm not a big sweets eater and therefore I've not dabbled with desserts as much as entrees. So the lion's share of my website postings are main dishes, soups, and veggies. Those are the foods I like best. But I really enjoy seeing what delightful desserts you're doing. And you're so prolific with them, girl!

hi i'm new to this forum but i made this today for my mom for mothers day. It was delicious but I'm curious was its texture suppose to be reminiscent to flan, even if it isn't it was still good.
