Default MAR or Late FEB Get-Together in Victoria ?

Ladies! I've been cleaning out cupboards (and purses) and found something that just MAY allow us to consider getting duded up and going for dinner instead of lunch, for a change!

At the end of the Culinary training, one of the chefs (I think he was one of the chefs, or perhaps the F&B manager...hmmmm) at the Marriott downtown, the Fire & Water Fish & Chop House -- now doesn't that sound like the place for us? -- presented us all with a card/coupon for

Ok, ok, maybe lunch would work, too, but don't we want to get dressed up a LITTLE?

Ladies, what do you think?

Quite honestly, dressing up is not on my list of fun things to do - real shoes hurt my feet (I guess I've slopped around in sandals and sneakers for too long)! Having said that, I'll go along with whatever the majority decides ... and good food IS high on my list of fun things!

hugs all, Glenda

Oy, flats are permitted; I'm not talking about getting crazy, just something a little more "pretty" than we usually wear on a regular day about town...I keep a few pairs of heels just to LOOK at, I think! I certainly don't wear 'em much.

I have a couple of pairs of "sitting shoes" I could dust off and I could find an outfit to go with.....

As far as I am concerned, flats are always fine. I don't tend to wear heels much because I am taller than my SO. LOL

Love to do dinner! Pretty much any date other than Feb 27 can potentially work (2/27 is Mouse's 18th bday!)

Julie

Where's Anny? Hey, I know how to get her attention....

Ladies, while messing around trying to perfect a molten cake with minimal speciality ingredients and with no soy or grains (yeah yeah, I shouldn't be doing this but it's keeping me from going gah gah right now! ), I have come up with a Truffle Custard recipe...makes 4 servings, not too big but very rich in the mouth...

Dark Chocolate Truffle Custards, looks busy but is really melt in one bowl, beat in another bowl, pour into 4 little bowls, bake!

Enjoy!

Hmmmm...looks like a duded up version of the Chocolate Truffle recipe on page 484 of my 92/99/02 version of DANDR! You've added eggs and cocoa, where he only used cocoa powder for dusting. I just happen to have more eggs than we'll eat this week so guess what we're having for dessert tonite!!!

Anny, I was wondering that too -- then we'd not only have to get me into shoes, we'd have to get John out of his jeans! He just might be willing for good food. I'll check my calendar and get back to you on dates - we have a couple of shows coming up which usually means a long weekend away.

Glenda

PS -- Who are you having committed Anny?

Somebody else somewhere (Sweet Treats?) mentioned some Lava or Molten Cakes in an early DANDR, was going to go hunt it down and check it out; thanks for the reminder, Glenda!

Anny, I didn't use my SUPER chocolate for these tests, so I used a block (ounce) each of Bakers Unsweetened and Hershey Unsweetened. If I didn't have the Hershey's (picked up on one of my US trips in grocery, and yes, it does have a nicer glossier darker look to it) I'd not hesitate to use 2 ounces of the Bakers in this particular recipe. I think the butter and cream do a lot to smooth things out! Also, the cocoa powder is the dark Fry's in the big yellow and red canister. It's actually a very good cocoa powder in my view; I use it a lot.

Ta, y'all; I look forward to some date picking (and sure, if we're going to do dinner, let's bring the SO's -- tho it'll make the scheduling even more conflicting. Mine, for instance, is leaving town for 10 long days as of the 22nd.

Sigh.

My SO is totally ANTI-LC so I am not sure if I would want to bring him..... I'll ask him if he's up for it.

That's the joy of the Marriott, he can eat whatever he wants ... and we'll politely look away, right?
