Smile Question on induction. need help.

I have a question is it o.k. to stay in induction for more than two weeks? I am on my 13th day and have lost 12lbs so far. I would like to stay in induction because I have a lot of weight loss to go. (Like a 100lbs)Was wondering if this was o.k.

Thanks Brian

As Atkins says,

Q: "How long can a person be on 20 gms of less carbohydrates per day?

A: As long as that person remains overweight and feels well."

Many people continue induction levels of carbohydrate until they are ready for pre-maintenence. I pretty much stuck to induction for most of my loosing. My problem now is that I'm flirting with too many carbs .

Good luck!

Thumbs up hi Brian

Congrats on the 12 lbs lost so far, that's awesome!

Yes, many low-carbers following Atkins' program remain at Induction level of 20 grams of carbs for weeks, even months.

A few things to note: I'm sure you know this, but just to mention that your rapid initial rate of loss will likely slow a bit as time goes on. The "average" rate of loss is 1-2% per week. So don't worry that you're doing something wrong, or that you need to cut back your carbs more if things seem to slow down; it's normal and to be expected. A gradual, steady loss is more likely to STAY off in the long run.

Make sure you're eating plenty of protein and fats, and keep drinking lots and lots of water ... Sometimes there's a tendency to eat less and less, because being in ketosis will blunt the appetite. While this is good in the short term because it helps to overcome cravings, in the long term it can slow the metabolism, and will make it really hard to lose as you get closer to goal. Are you exercising and working out too?? That will help keep the fat-burning furnace hot

Continued success to you!

Doreen

Default thanks

Thanks for the info. I exercise on the days that I don't work. Just mainly walking for now. Kind of cold for biking. LOL.

Once again thanks

Brian
