I threw out 2 remaining romaine hearts from a 3-pack I bought a few days ago .. guess where the first one went? . Well, I'm not dead yet, or sick for that matter, although it could be another day or so for symptoms to show up.

What irks me about this is that neither gov't (Cdn or US) has yet issued a recall order .. only advising consumers to throw it out. Apparently nobody wants to assign responsibility

According to the mainstream news, This is a particularly bad E.coli, so not worth the few dollars lost, as sad as it is to throw out. As it can be, tracing back to the exact cause is like chasing 10 rabbits at once, and it takes time to check every lead. For safety sake the net is cast wide, so all romaine is suspect until the evidence is conclusive and a few brand labels can be named with certainty.

Love romaine. Sad so much is thrown out.But safety first.

I'd just had a half bag of salad, which I'm sure had some Romaine in it, when I heard the news. I threw out the remaining (or should I say Romaine-ing) unopened bag in the garbage. <giant sigh>

Now they are telling customers to clean and disinfect the fridge as well.

You know where this infection originates? Feed Lots, never from pasture raised livestock. We have created this mess with our factory farms.

I bought some mountain pasture raised and finished ground beef from Idaho. They still manage the herd with horses. I found out it's totally different in taste and texture than the supermarket fare, not crumbly at all or loaded with salt solution. It comes ground in the package, but to make ground beef with a block of it you have to dice it up with a sharp knife like a steak. It's quite rubbery until it's cooked. I got the beef with the higher fat content too 70% lean.

I was wondering why the grocery store only had kale and spinach. I've never had kale, so I'll give that a try.

I just restarted LC and adding fiber to stabilize blood sugar. The fiber supplements are just too much. I need something a little more natural.
