Default Sugar..the devils dust?

I have been LCing for over 4 years now. Off and on, but mostly on track with low carbing.

When I first started getting into LC and reaidng all the books, I read a book called God's Diet, and from that my husband started calling sugar the devil's dust. LOL I thought this is funny. He uses the "devil's dust" in his coffee every morning. I read that book about 3 years ago, and he still refers to sugar as the devils dust. He wrote it on the shopping list as that too!

A little harsh perhaps? I would point towards Cocaine as the true 'devil's dust'.

The only problem I have with the WOE is that dessert, yes the bad kind....well sometimes it just tastes GOOD!

oh well

My brother says sugar is about as good for you as eating crushed glass.

I guess you right about the cocaine...never thought of that. I never think of drugs since it isn't part of my life, nor know anyone close that has a drug problem.
So when I think of something evil, it is sugar.

At least we don't give cocaine to babies and children every SINGLE day. I can't believe that even some baby foods are cured with sugar. Natural sugars are one thing, but I mean SUGAR. Man.

Angela...it is amazing that they put sugar in so many things. And I group corn syrup, corn starch etc as sugar, but it does the same thing.
I am amzed by how much sugar kids get, even when the parents say ti is healthy for them. The fruit roll-ups, kid style yogurt (that has a ton of sugar in it) cereal bars (nutri-grain type) And parents give this things to their kids and think it is healthy because it has fruit, it is dairy, or because it has "grain" in the name of the product.

I know my kids get sugar here and there, but I do try to emphasis the natural whole foods..meat, veggies and fruit.

Congrats on your steak, Kelly! I don't have children yet, but it must be hard keeping sugar out of their diets without feeling like a bit of a spoilsport. My parents kept sugar cereals out of the house and I don't remember ever eating a dessert other than fruit. That I give them credit for, but it must be so hard because kids concentrate on sweets and treats. Good job trying to get them focused on whole foods. Everyone should try to do that no matter what they believe about nutrition.

Anyway, it still surprises me how "high fructose corn syrup" is in just about everything in a box at the grocery. Luckily, I stick to the fridge rim around the store.
