I'm a lurker who never posts here, but I had to reply.

That's one of the best posts I've ever read on ANY LC forum. Thanks.

Last night, my DH playfully punched me in the shoulder, something he's done lovingly hundreds of times. Apparently, I've gotten to the point where the padding is gone, and said "Ouch, that hurts." Well, I hurt his feelings. Darn, he'll have to think of something else to do.

I too suffer from the ppppprincess syndrome!! I just got hightlights, and had my nails done!!! hahaha. I also feel myself up, I really love to lay on my back and feel my pelvic bones sticking up!! My collar bones are so close to the skin that if I feel stressed, or want to eat something bad, I reach under my shirt, and feel the collar bones to remind me not to put the padding back on!! My favorite compliment was....how much weight have you lost?? Do you realize that you lost the amount that another human being...a child weighs????

I've thought about losing the weight of a kid, too! I teach second grade and it struck me one day recently. I said, "Hey ya'll let's take a poll. How much do you weigh?" After several responses, Zac said, "61 pounds." [Zac has a little speech issue and it came out thixty one poundths] "You are it, my man!!! I have lost enough weight to make one of you!" He grinned a smile missing two front teeth--you'd have thought he won the contest.

Great post! We have the same stats so it all hit home for me.
I love walking by my reflection and not seeing my butt walking one step behind me.
I was called bony the other day! I certainly took it as a compliment.
My favorite comment, which I don't know if I will ever get enough of, is "you are loosing too much weight"
Also my confidence spills into all aspects of life, like work. I am so much better at my job now.

Great post, Sara. I was smiling and saying "yup" to so much of it.
More than seeing/feeling "new" bones, have you noticed it hurts to sit, lean, lie down? It took me about a year to get used to all the nw ways my body works and moves.
I also have an amazing knack for picking the one misplaced piece of clothing- the size 14 in the size 6 rack! It just seems to find me, and I have to remind myself that's not me anymore. My DD went shopping with me, and when something didn't fit/look good I'd get the next larger size. She said- no mom, get the SMALLER size!
I was just out of town for a while, and there were no mirrors other than the small, high bathroom vanity. When I got home I stripped for a shower and caught a glimpse of myself in my full mirror- and did a double take. That's ME? A month of not seeing myself seems to have given my brain a chance to really notice what I look like, not the old me.

Hilarious! I can't wait to relate! However, the "Eating Carbs" nightmare was mine last night! I dreamed I was putting peanut M&Ms into little cups for my preschool class party, and without relizing it I was poppin' those things in my mouth. I asked my friends why they didn't stop me! I blamed them! Then I woke up-shew! No shame spiral!

Vicki--I identify with what you said. I had a 3rd grade teacher who did similar things. I just wanted to hide from her!

My current stats don't reflect the largest amount of weight I've ever lost at one time, but it feels significant for me in lots of the ways you've mentioned, Sara.

This confusing size thing is one issue...learning that I take such and such in this brand and this size in this other brand...

My "apron" is diminishing. Good bye talcum powder!

Vicki, I was touched by what you said. As a parent of a child who is actually in grade two right now, I'd be concerned if he came home and said his teacher did any kind of a weight survey with the class, and my son is actually as thin as a rail.

But what you said, Vicki, is a good reminder of how thoughtful we need to be when it comes to weight issues and children. No one wants to hurt a child on purpose, of course. So thanks for sharing that insight with us, Vicki.

P.S. Maybe it would have been better to go into the staff room and do that survey?

Oh right. Not there either, I guess.
