Default 1st week of induction down!

...1 more week to go!
It's been going pretty well I'm down 5 pounds.

There were a few blips, one an unfortunate experience with some boots diabetic chocolate(NEVER AGAIN) and another my last day of college celebrated with a bottle of wine, but the next day I was straight back to the plan.

What I have found is that, like lots of you, I've been on the receiving end of some very irritating comments about low carbing and dieting in general. "Supportive" isn't a word that applies to my friends, and I think it's possibly worse cause I live in ireland. :eyeroll:

Does anybody know where I can get better value for money for ground almonds? It's about five euro for just a little bag, and I don't really have the cash atm.
But Tesco brand cream cheese at 75cent a carton! \o/

Also, has anyone ever tried baking with aspartamene? :curious:

Hi Swing Set.
Congratulations on losing 5 pounds! That's great.

Sorry to hear that you're having to indure that. It's annoying, but don't let it distract you from the real facts. Lots of studies and research is available here. You do what you know is right for you. Keep up the good work and see you around the boards.

Try grinding your own almonds. I use a coffee grinder. Do it in pulses since grinding too long produces almond butter. Don't heat aspartane!! It produces a toxic wood alcohol. Check out sweeteners at the TIPS section in the far upper navigation bar. If you're going bake or cook, you may want try Slenda.

Thanks Kandra! Good to meet you.

I embark tomorrow on an epic quest to find Shirataki Noodles. I'm very curious about these, might try them as a pasta replacement. If I can find them!

http://www.shiratakinoodles.net/

If your grocery store has an oriental section in a cooler it may be there. Generally that oriental section is with the produce. I've never seen any that aren't refigerated, but they may have them that way in the asian food section in ethnic foods.
I've also seen it at asian markets, too. If you can't find it locally you can order it online at the url above.

For Shiratake noodles in the UK, try Mount Fuji
I don't advise using them as a pasta substitute, the texture is totally wrong. They are great for any asian noodle type dish though.
