Default Yogurt Makers

If you have a yogurt maker, what kind is it. Do you recommend buying one...I'm considering it. Thanks

Lou

I have a crockpot, where the crock comes out, warm/low/high settings. I stick a digital thermometer in it and try and keep it at 110f for 3 hours. It it gets to hot like 112f I turn it off for awhile. You can use this method in the oven also.
I love making yogurt, I do it once a week. Let me know if you need help!

I have a Salton that I ordered from Bed Bath and Beyond for 15 bucks. It only make s a quart, though. But I didn't want to spend 50-60 dollars on the bigger one from Yogourmet.
Using a yogurt maker is easy, easy to sterilize which is important because you don't want to grow the bad guys. And after you put everything in it (heated and cooled down milk or half-and-half, yogurt starter), you just plug it in and leave it for 24 hours, and then take the container out and put it in the fridge for 6-8 hours, and the next morning you have wonderful, creamy yogurt with zero lactose.
