Default $400 at costco!!

We just got back from the store and my fridge and freezer are CRAMMED with good food. We have shrimp, halibut, chicken, burgers, turkey, tuna, kosher hot dogs, hotlinks, eggs, cheese, half and half, frozen vegis etc. I just wrote down our dinner menu for the upcoming week. I realize that 400 bucks is a lot of money but we were spending much more because we were making daily trips to the store. This will save us money in the long run. Prepare to plan or plan to fail. I'm all over it!

I love our Costco! Sounds like a good plan. We are trying to be sure we plan out a week at a time to stop those frequent trips to the grocery store.

Costco is like a bad ex. Your away long enough and you forget was what wrong and go back for me. LOL! I try to stay away from that place but maybe once a month..have to go.

Chris - yes, dinners earlier. seems like we've been a bit better about it lately. Last night we had dinner out on the deck it was lovely. Weather has been so great.

I started buying thighs this week too! We don't have a costco but I'll be at Sams next weekend to re-stock our meat supply. They have pork loin at a great price, I use it to make roasts, chops, and mock ribs.

Dumb question on the thighs...are they skinless and white meat?

There are some great buys at Costco. But beware of being there when all the food samples are being given out.

I know...the food samples are a killer! I just live vicariously through my daughter with those.

The thighs I bought were bone in and with skin, they are dark meat.

The best is when they are giving out samples of oodles of meat and cheese, usually around a holiday. Wish I could have gone this weekend!

We're members of Sams right now and I'm considering switching to Costco when our membership is up. Why do you all prefer Costco over Sams?

I love Costco as much as the next person--meat, meat, meat, shellfish, meat, chicken, chicken, (salami), mozzerella in oil, cheese, berries....

The food (if you can call it food) that Costco gives out in samples....funny, I wouldn't even eat it if I wasn't following LC. Is it just me? Just the smell of that stuff heating up is enough to make me want to vomit. Really. Last time my mom and I were in Costco it must have been a Saturday---every vendor in food crap creation was heating and shilling thier wares. It got so bad I had to go outside for some fresh air because the smell was making me sick. Bleh!!!!

I still have a Costco bill of about $300-400 evey couple of months when my mom and I are getting low on meat, TP, and paper towels.

Progress not perfection.

Lisa

Sams/Costco/Sams/Costco--it really is what you have in your geopgraphical area. It may just be my perception but it seems as if Costco has a bit more "higher end" items.

There is no Sams anywhere close to me (plus I try not to purchase items from Walmart if I can help it)

Yep - what Lisa said. There isn't a sams club close to us at all.
