OTOH, you have a point about doing the casino route vs. having your Atkins meals delivered. Not much food and no fun...there is sure a better way to spend that kind of money!

I like the Casino Buffets because at Dinner time I can get all the Prime Rib I can eat. It's not the best quality Prime Rib. But, it's good enough for me. I also like the fact I can get Crab on the Buffet sometimes.

Please don't think I was being critical! I was laughing because the men in my family will eat anything if it doesn't move within a few seconds! You are right, of course. The food isn't the best quality but there is plenty of it, and great if you are LC'ing. And certainly $wise beats what Atkins is offering! And you have fun, too!

I think its a nice service, if you can afford it.

Compare the price of having a chef prepare your meals with other popular expensive weight loss tools. :

1) Bariatric surgery.
cost: 30k
risks: it may not even work, especially if you get the lap band. infections and other medical complications, major lifestyle change, death.
benefits: if it works for you, you can stay slim permenantly.

2) Atkins meals prepared by chef.
cost: 1.1k per month (assuming a steady loss of 7 pounds per month and 100 pounds are needed to be lost, that comes out to 15,700 total)
risks: none, other than a minor lifestyle change.
benefits: you learn how to change you eating habits permenantly to stay slim, without invasive surgery.

so even if you need to lose a huge amount of weight, its still cheaper than bariatric surgery. plus there is less risk, and you can cancel in intermediary stages if you change your mind.

You know, I see the health channel programs and news profiles of people who have these types of surgeries, especially kids in their teens, and I want to shout, "TRY LOW CARB FIRST! SEVERAL TIMES, IF YOU HAVE TO!" This is so risky and I thinks doctors who do this on kids are morally bankrupt. There aren't even long-term studies of what happens to these patients as they age!

Jasmine: I am going out of the country for 5 weeks and I want to hire you. You won't have to cook much because the freezer is FULL of stuff for the "H". He is very easy to please. Now, about the cats...there are 4 with very distinct personalities, very hard to please, and one is a real GRUMP. And are they messy! I assume the $200 includes your air-fare and I will let you use my car. But you MUST park two time-zones away in ANY parking lot! And please, please run the vacuum AT LEAST ONCE while I am gone. The "H" doesn't know what they are for! Thanks...and OBTW...my flight is tomorrow night.

Default A franchise?

When I read the first post, my immediate thought was: I would do it for half price. Because I am unable to compete with Jasmine's excellent business proposal, how about a deal. Can I open a Jasmine franchise in South California? My specialities: ethnic LC (French, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Hungarian, Russian) meals, and Marathon/Tirathlon training. (Booth camp style with the help of my Marine son.)
As a reference I can send illustrated recipes, before/after pictures, race results of my family members.

Jasmine, you made my day. I have a very bad cold, headache, sore throat, runny nose, everything. Your post healed me in a minute:-)

Jasmine, per usual you're a crack-up!

Boy, oh boy, oh boy! If I paid $1100 a month for food for each LC'er in this house that'd be $4400! We'd be so far in the whole after just one month there'd be no digging out!
