Default Scales

Curious as to what kind of scales others use. I was frustrated with standard cheapie bathroom scales last time I attempted LC a few years ago. They would vary several pounds on reweighing at the same time! Couldn't be trusted to be accurate to closer than about three lbs. or so!
Got a Tanita electronic unit which consistently measures to .5 lb and attempts to measure BMI through electric sensors on the bare feet. BMI reading varies a couple points from day to so I don't know if that is really useful or not.

Even the professional Tanita models (BC-418) will drive you nuts, though that one breaks out the water weight, which is making your BMI bounce around.
Go on the Tanita website and download the manuals for your model, and other info they had there, on what can/cannot impact the result. Then I found more info through a google search, but in the end was happier with a very experienced trainer using the skin fold test.
So since I no longer go to Dr. Westman's office for the fancy Tanita reading, I use a cheapie scale at home that only measures to the half pound. Plot the result monthly on graph paper with pencil and watch the trend. Fluxuations up/down by 4 pounds are the "grey area" of water weight described by Phinney and Volek. Their Clinical Pearl is:

I have a Tanita. Weight seems accurate to me. I get the same reading on it as I do at the doctor's office. It has the body fat electrode things on it but I don't know how accurate they are. Seems pretty close.

Edit to add : Ours is old. We got it when the BF scales were still pretty new. It's like 15 years old.
