Default D-chiro-inositol Supplement

I have a few questions about the supplement D-Chiro-Inositol. One, where can I buy it? GNC? Or is it a prescription? Two, has anyone here used it and what were the results? It is supposed to make you more insulin sensitive and helps women with PCOS symptoms. My plan is to take Metformin, do low, low carb and use the d-chiro supplement to stabilize my insulin levels/lose a little weight and get pregnant again. I'd love a little advice.

I'm not sure if I will be of any help, but since no one else is speaking up -- I'll give it a try.

I checked a few of the major American supplement distributors and did not find "D-Chiro-Inositol" specifically. I did find "D-Chiro-Inositol" sold by a company, I believe, in New Zealand.

Many companies sell inositol and choline. I don't know how related they are to "D-Chiro-Inositol". In fact, Dr Atkins, in his Vita Nutrients book (at the bottom of page 81):

Quote:
inositol, choline, and methionine are integrally involved in how the liver handles fats, giving rise to their scientific nickname of lipotropic, or fat-burning, nutrients. For a number of overweight people whose biggest obstacle to weight loss is a reluctant metabolism, supplements of the nutrient trio can trigger their bodies to burn off the excess fat.

I would recommend that you take a women's "mega" multivitamin, omega 3 fatty acids, chromium, and then try this inositol, choline, methionine stack. Couple that with low carb diet and exercise -- I would think you would see dramatic health improvement.
