Jaz- I don't know if I would have a Costco membership for one person- probably not. We already use it much less than when we had a bunch of Littles. That being said, I do have a pretty big list for today going over there because of the company we have coming.

OUCH!! I'm so sorry you fell and cracked your head! I agree- thank goodness your bones are strong! You have avoided all kinds of bone breaks over the past couple of years.

Lori- I have heard of that gum procedure although I don't remember that much about it. It sounds absolutely horrific. I think skin is taken from the roof of the mouth or something completely awful like that. Ugh, don't even want to imagine it!

I hope your hair appt goes well today!

••••••••••

Am I really the first one to post today???

Things are about to get crazy busy around here. Six people coming to stay Wed night- next Monday. Dinners will be 12 people every night except 14 people one night. I've got a dinner meal plan made, grocery and Costco list made. I need to do some cleaning over the next couple of days, get guest beds made up, that kind of thing.

My biggest concern is always just managing my own emotions during the time when people are in my house and in my space. As a friendly introvert I start to break down relatively quickly- usually by day 3. I will do my best and it will be what it is. Very excited to see my Dad and SM though- it has been over two years since I have seen them!

So anyway, cleaning and shopping today to get what will be needed for the week. Breakfast and lunch will be 'get your own' and then a main meal and side is planned along with a nightly 'salad bar' where people can build their own. The pool is open of course, and we will play some pickleball, and spike ball, and a couple of activities are on tap for those who want to do them. Otherwise just hang out and chill.

Good Afternoon!

I didn't post this morning since I posted late yesterday. I hit the ground running this morning making Betty's chip dip & some pickled eggs. Stripped the bed and got that laundry done too. Headed to the post office & the salon around 9:30.

The paving crew showed up around 8AM and they say the road "should" be ready for traffic by sometime Thursday. I'm just waiting for some Einstein to go around the road closed sign and drive right into hot asphalt. We have several cars/trucks/motorcycles go past the sign and drive over the construction every day. Also bikers and joggers.....OY! I wouldn't be surprised if it has to be redone because of some moron.

My friend's gum surgery is not elective....according to the specialist. If she wants to keep her teeth, something has to be done. Bad gum recession and who knows what else in her back molars. The laser surgery is supposed to be easier than traditional gum surgery, but it sounds awful.

------

Nic.....You will have a houseful, but how wonderful to get to see your family again. Enjoy and don't stress about everything being perfect....it will all be fine and everyone will enjoy being together.

Trig.....Sorry your weather is turning and that you will have to pack up in the rain. No fun for sure. Hope you can get 1 more good day.

Jaz....Hope you're not too sore this morning from your tumble. Is Rugar doing ok? No more limping? You two sure did get tangled up!

Just taking it easy the rest of the day. Hot as he!! out there. Golf tomorrow.

Good Morning!

A quick Hello before I head to the golf course. Supposed to be 97 degrees today.....what fun! I actually don't mind the heat that much. Lots of water and a bottle of Gatorade Zero will see me through.

Have a great day!

GOOD MORNING! HALF WAY Through.

NIC- I guess when I was reading your posts it did not CLICK with me until your last one that people are STAYING from Tue- Monday! Ok I love people too- BUT I too get to about day 3 and start melting from the lack of space. I too know my limits.
So come about Fri/Sat. Do TRY to get some personal space. Fake a headache and go to your bedroom or something.
That is a ton of prep/ and clean up!

Do try to have some fun- and then when it isn't have some wine! Honey I would have ordered a keg!
Thankfully the weather will hold for you, and you have a backyard playground!
Keep us posted when you can! Hold tight GF you got this!

TRIG- Beware that Hurricane Elsa is heading head on straight for you and me! I unfortunately just to the EAST of it. The worst side to be on. It is making landfall as I type this! When are you leaving? I would NOT wait until tomorrow!!! Just momma bear letting you know. Pack up and head home today!

The storm was supposed to skim the coast but has shifted just a bit more inland. So I will be more hit than Savannah. you are also in direct path and will get it hours after me late this afternoon.

Please post what you are planning so I don't have to worry!

Lori- Lucky and fun you! I know that Betty loves her chip dip. Did you say it was good? Cream cheese and dry ranch right? I remember my mom used to make that. Such a 60-70's dip- and you much ONLY have it with Ruffles thick chips! Oh yea and toss em down with a coke! Now we just need the momma's and Pappa's song in the back round, bell bottom jeans and denim shirts!

Remember those cream cheese balls we all made (well other people made I was a kid) with that "chipped beef" covering it? I heard that still make that "chipped beef". Dang next time I am at the grocery I am going to look for it. I HAVE to see the ingredient list!
My grandma uses to make "chipped beef" with white gravy over toast! Back in the day that was SOME GOOD EATING!!!!! Oh add black pepper for flavor! BLECK.........

Yeah on stupid people running over hot tar. You just can't cure stupid! Hope they get it done!

Have fun on the course today! - Win some good beer money!
----------------------------------------------------
Yesterday I was just not in the mood for anything. Am I the only one who feels that way sometimes? I had nothing I was upset over...... Just a funk.
Today I woke up feeling fine. I think when I am tired I am less adapt to annoyances. I went to bed last night at 9 on the dot and slept until 6:30. Slept straight though. Feel really good today.

I need to run quick like before work starts at 9 over to the grocery. I just need water and coffee coconut creamer. I use the plain non sweet. But I still need that bit of "cream" in my coffee. I want to head out before the rain comes in.

Today I am making beef tips in the slow cooker. Beef stew without all the carbs. I might put a carrot and some peppers and mushrooms in the pot at the end and call it a day.

Gotta run- the man starts early. I think being ball and chained to a desk yesterday added to my frustration. Although I love to be paid!!!!

Ok all- WOE- Really feel good about what I am doing. It is inching down turtle style. Thats ok- I will take it.

quickie

yea gonna head out later today. even tho we miss out on tomorrow, who cares, it is 100% Elsa rain day so no reason to stay.

very dark here with winds getting higher but I don't think it will over punch this area, I hope for them.

hubby went out 5 am surf fish and he came back a bit ago and was barbed in the hand by a tiny stingray and yea he hand is swelled and painful but Ranger Dude said it will just hurt like hell for a few hrs and should be ok.......so off he went back fishing and I am here, packing rv to get the golf cart loaded later and be outta here by around 1-2 or so.....bigger rain hitting around 5-6 tonight I think and I don't wanna sit all day in a camper with them LOL and I am not one to sightsee in big rain, I don't shop in big rain LOL

so yea trip over today and home later and call it done....2 weeks is long...I booked 1 week next year....I'd rather do more 1 week trips than a few longer ones....I like to roam around more to break up my days so gonna plan up some shorter ones now....2 weeks with dog and kid in tight quarters was enough for me HAHA

over and out and have a fine day all and chat up tomorrow when home to see what wreck has happened to the pool and more HAHA I hope not anything

I agree TRIG that two weeks is long no matter how much you love your people, especially in a tight space like a camper or tiny house. I know that would not be for me. Glad you can head out and avoid being stuck all day and night in that rain. Be careful driving home though. I hope The Chop's hand heals all right.

BTW we part ways at all the stuff being done by 11. I get up around 8 or so, take care of the dogs, plant my ass down with my coffee and then get moving around 10 or so to start getting things done a little at a time. I like a slow start!

Lori, girl you are going to be BROILING out there so it is good you don't mind the heat. Frankly, not having AC at your house probably makes you way more heat tolerant than the rest of us. It will be 98 here and utterly oppressive!

Jaz I actually AM going to have some wine around and that is UNHEARD of for me. But yeah, it is part of my fall-back plan to stay no sugar/no subs/no flour while under stress!

Funks definitely happen. Sounds like sleep cured what ailed ya!

I just froze what remained of my beef vegetable soup for another time. I like to have it ready to pull out later on in the month!

••••••••

My day today- was online for CASA court at 8:30 AM. Went well and adoption should be next Friday for The Littles!
Leaving soon for water fitness class that starts at 10, then going to the grocery store and the liquor store.

Back here then for first meal of the day (defrosting a ribeye) and some down time, then I need to get both the beds made up and tie up loose ends for people coming. Online meeting at 3. Then I will take the rest of the day off to just rest and collect myself before my brother, SIL and The Littles get here tonight. Then it all starts!

Happy hot afternoon!

I had fun on the golf course with my friend, but man it was hot. I wouldn't have wanted to be out much longer. We finished around 11:30. No money to be won today......that only happens(sometimes) during tournaments.

Jaz....the dip I make for Betty involves chopping green & red Peppers and onions very fine(use a small food processor/chopper), then I cook 2 beaten eggs, sugar, vinegar until thick like pudding. Mix in cream cheese & butter and then stir in the veggies. Chill. She absolutely loves it. I wish it was as simple as mixing dry ranch into cream cheese!

Trig...sorry you had to cut your trip short by a day, but sure don't want to get caught in a tropical storm or whatever.

Nic...I guess I am heat tolerant, although I have the window unit a/c running in our kitchen right now. We have a window unit to put in our bedroom, but I can't stand the noise of it cycling on and off all night. I'm hoping for a t-storm this evening to cool us down a bit before bedtime.

Have fun with your family!!

-----------

No golf till Saturday. Rain coming for tomorrow and Friday, so I cancelled tee times for the next 2 days.

Later!

The first part of the hurricane has arrived. It is 630. I thought it would be here sooner but it hit the coast and slowed to a craw. It is just now starting to pick up steam here. Tornado watch and a warning was had about 10 minutes from here. The difference in the tornados in these type of storms VS the long and city demolishing type in the midwest are light night and day. The ones here are like dust ups and over before the warning is over.
The ones in the midwest are duck and run and pray kind.

Made beef stew- OMG it was good.

going to prop up feet and listen to the rain!

Me home. Me busy unpacking and tired but fun trip...got the better weather before we left a day early due to Elsa but I don't think Edisto got hurt much.....but better safe than sorry on that.

Nicco.....you slay. Low and slow til about 10 with coffee.....and then ya write be at CASA at 8:30 and fitness at 10 and then run around and shop.....ok you....you move way more than ya think early AM so you are me HAHA but you think you aren't LOL
You got early morning farmer moves in you for sure

Lori...wow that is a long break from golf but that darn rain is cycling around for sure. Packing rv in high humid heat was rough, I need a slower day for getting stuff done.....you only do AC in bedroom maybe? do you have AC downstairs with units? just wondering.

Jazz, yea they are fast pop ups for sure here. What I don't like is the monster wind that can hit in a flash....like fine and then 10 mins later you got 40 mph winds?? ugh?? like the one that tore up my EZ UP tent LOL

--------------fast one guys
got alot to handle of course

get this, home around 9pm last night and hubby takes on a 10 hr round trip to Wilmington Beach with his drive buddy...omg...but he wanted to go....he loves this job and just left, who knows what time home...ugh, not me, I can barely move, I wanna watch all the shows I missed on demand tv and take life easy while the washer does most of the work but will move my butt unpacking fridge etc. sooner than later...get'er done

off I go.....wee.....

Good Morning!

Trig....Glad to hear you got home safely....now comes the fun part...unpacking and laundry...ugh! At least you can do some and then take a break...no having to get it all done in a certain amount of time. Wow....hubby is on the road again? He sure does love being in a vehicle! At least he's out of your hair, right?

We have 1 a/c unit in our kitchen window that cools the kitchen and also our living room where we spend most of our time. We have the bedroom a/c up in the attic in storage, but I told DH not to bother putting it in the window as I just don't like it running while I try to sleep. We had thunder storms around 8:30 last night and again around midnight. It helped to cool things down a bit, but I hate the flashing and banging of the thunder. Why can't we just have a nice gentle rain?

They're working on the edges of the newly paved road out front this morning. I asked the guys when they will reopen the road, and they said they thought it would be tomorrow. I need to go to the post office AGAIN and tell them when to restart mail delivery. I'm expecting some big boxes from Amazon and am hoping I don't have to pick them up and lug them to my car. Much easier to have the mailman put them on my front porch!

Well, I have to get some laundry started. I have some errands to run later, but not much going on today.

Have good days!

Lori- yeah bedroom AC units can definitely be loud. We run a sound machine in our room for white noise so that is offset when we are in motels with those etc. Once DS22 moves we might put an AC unit in our window and then stop cooling the whole house down at night unnecessarily.

We are getting the rain coming too. I hope your days off are good ones!

Jaz- Your soup sounds good! Soups are a fave of mine- so filling and easy to have around.

Trig- Welcome back from vacay! Take your time and get it done a little at a time. Or not. lol

I move early when I have to (court, exercise class) but if I have nothing going on in the morning (like today) I am still sitting on my ass at 10:30 in the morning. That being said, I have done two loads of laundry etc I just haven't gotten dressed or left the house or anything like that.

•••••••••••

My brother and his family arrive today - they were trying to drive straight through but stopped in WV so they will be here early this afternoon. Fine by me- I was planning some down time this morning before everything starts!

My body is loving this no sugar/ no sugar subs/ no flours thing. Down 2.2 for the week from Th-Th and down a little over 9 pounds in a little over a month. Yay! Keeping on with it but I know with company coming this week I will be slightly lax. Still SF/FF but I'll allow a couple of release valves like a glass of wine and continue allowing small amounts of fruit as I have been. I will also allow small portions of corn chips or potato chips if I really want them rather than choosing sugar or flour. Preplanned choices only!

My Dad and SM arrive at 5.

My Mom's husband is still in the hospital and still in ICU. He was having some confusion and refusing medicine and apparently has been a bit combative since his surgery. I hope that clears up. My Mom has been sort of a mess.. she doesn't do well with stress etc and has not been doing well with getting out of the house to visit him or anything. When she is stressed she just sleeps all the time.

Make it a good day, all!

Hey there- sorry for the late report- today was a headache from the start. Behind the 8 ball from the get go.

Trig
- Glad to hear you are home and safe. What a ....... seriously the CHOP took off and left the crap to unload to you?????? Well...... just well and I will keep my trap shut. - at least he is working!!!!!!! Mine had an allergy to that and that is what divorced us so I guess in the big picture. I would rather unload a camper than work for the man!!!!!!!!

Yea didn't much about that ELSA- we had a storm about 11-12 and it was really bad.But I was in bed and felt safe and had little boy next to me and it was OK........
The humidity is back and can't open windows. You sweat just walking outside.

So here in the south there are 2 months you go out for a bit and stay in mostly. July and Aug. Same as in the north you stay in Jan/Feb- and there ya have it.

NIC- Hate to hear that your mom's husband having issues. OMG the longer they stay I swear the sicker they get. I sure hope get gets ok fast!!!!!! Will he go to a rehab then?

How are you doing with the party at your house?

Lori- GIRLLLLLLLLLLLLL I COULD not live with AC in my bedroom. NADA, NO, FORGET IT, HELL NO - hahahahahahahah. let me tell ya how I feel. hahahah
Did it once= night mare.

You had me cracking up on Betty's dip. Honestly- a package of dry ranch and cream cheese sounds better than peppers, butter and goop. But ya know it's all what we were brought up on!
Hey- Swasons was a real thing back in the day!!!!!!!!
Give me some "meatloaf", constructed flaked taters, and cherry "cobbler"- we got a DINNER! HEHEHEH

did you get rain?
---------------------------------------------------
Woke up late and worked late.

I will have to say- my boss is not a rag. She is decent and fair. Just doing her job and she is nice. A real breathe of fresh air from my other bosses. She is kind and that goes a long way.

That being said- ........... my job is just ...... well a monkey could do it....... and I am TIED to a desk.............

Give me a beach, ........

I am also thinking about maybe a guy. interested meeting someone. But now I have little one and it's just hard with full time and all that. I am going to look into the Meet ups NIC suggested.

NIte ya'll

Good Morning!

A lazy morning with nothing to do and all day to do it! It is murky & humid and will no doubt pour down rain at any moment just like yesterday. Hoping we get thru our 2 day golf tournament this weekend without getting soaked. Saturday looks pretty good, but Sunday is iffy.

They opened our road yesterday morning! Hooray! No more detour and all the delivery and mail trucks can get to me.

Today I'll make a grocery store run and hit the ATM. I'm accumulating cash for DH to take on his fishing trip next Friday. He's going with our DS, DGS17, his brother and another friend. They have to give the Captain of the boat cash...what a PITA. They go every summer and this year they're going twice. Sigh. It's in upstate NY. Anyway........

---------

Trig.....Are you getting all caught up on your chores? How is your weather? Did the storm give you lots of rain?

Nic....I know you're knee deep in family. I hope all is going well and that you're having a great time.

Jaz....Sorry you had a rough day yesterday. Hope today is better. I guess the job being a bit boring is better than being super stressful and high pressure all the time. Are you doing anything special this weekend?

--------

I'm trying to talk myself out of going out for lunch. For some reason, I'm dying for tacos or a burrito or something like that. Weird.

Time for another cup of coffee. Happy Friday!
