Default chai latte

Well, I was in the mood for a chai latte.

So... using my noggin, I came up with the most delicious version! LOW CARB!!!

Mix about 1/3 to 1/2 of a cup of heavy cream with hot water, a package of Splenda,

seep a bag of Chai tea into the hot liquid.

Stir vigorously (it will get frothy...)

Sprinkle with cinnamon

Sip! It's great, with only 1 or 2 grams of carbs!!!!!!!

What I've been doing is making a batch of chai green tea to keep in the fridge:
Bring 8 cups of water to a boil. Turm down heat. Put in 6 bags of Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice bags, simmer about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and put in 10 bags of green tea. Steep for 4 minutes. Remove all bags and add 4 pkgs. stevia (or to taste) and 1 tsp. vanilla. I keep this in the fridge and pour out however much I want when I want and add cream to taste. In the winter, I nuke it before adding the cream.
I love chai tea and want the health benefits of green tea, so this does the trick for me. Hope you enjoy it!

What makes a Chai a "Chai" To me it seems you are making tea in milk (cream) and heating it up. What am I missing for I love Tea!

Even tho the word means 'tea', around here traditional chai tea has milk, sweetener, vanilla and spices with the tea.

Ummmm <whips out grocery list> I'm gonna try this one. Instead of stirring vigorously, could I used a submersion blender? It's one of those blender thingies you stick in the pot or a tall glass and it acts like a blender.

And to get more bang for your buck, add a scoop of protein powder to your chai mixture in the blender!

Last winter I got in the habit of making these using Carb Countdown milk, a Chai teabag and Splenda. Very nice on a cold winter evening.

Davinci has a SF Chai flavor. My local TJ Maxx always has a generous supply of those on hand.

I use a bag of Numi Chai and mix in hot water, then add cream and sf vanilla or caramel syrup. A bit thinner than the chai I'm used to but really good anyway. I think next time I want an iced chai I'll make this and whip it up in the blender with some ice for a chai-frappe! YUM. Ok I want one now.

What?? How can 1/3-1/2 cup of cream only be 1-2 g carbs?
I thought it was 1g per tbsp. The heaviest cream i can find is whipping cream, the one without sugar not whipped cream, and that has 1 g per tbsp.
what % of cream does everyone else use?

according to fitday.com

1 cup of Heavy Cream = 6.64 grams of carbs

Heavy Cream and Heavy Whipping Cream are interchangeable terms...well at least as far as I know!
