Default Coronary Heart Disease - Vietnam Casualties

JAMA:
Quote:
Postmortem coronary angiography and dissection of hearts from 105 United States soldiers killed in Vietnam demonstrate that (1) 45% have some evidence of atherosclerosis; (2) 5% have gross evidence of severe coronary atherosclerosis; and (3) no patient had angiographic evidence of severe coronary narrowing, and in only one patient was any degree of stenosis observed.

Kids who were killed in Vietnam - 45% showed early signs of CHD.

Trans fats and sugar were a thing back then, even if obesity was not yet.

YES!!

This is why I am teaching my kids how to eat low carb. Mostly. We rarely buy sugar or flour. Just need a few more tweeks to an even better diet.

Are you talking about today? Wouldn’t most Vietnam vets be about 65-75 today?

It's about soldiers killed in Vietnam. They would have been young men when they died. That's what is so worrying.

Dr Atkins talks about the history of our food and how it changed back around 1900. Cola was marketed in the 1890's and flour became sifted into the white flour we know today. And I know more and more people moved to the cities, away from fresh farm raised foods. For the jobs.
