Default Food sensitivities test - Anybody ever do one?

I had decided to have one done while at my NP the other day and now I think I'm going to regret my decision.

Firstly I'm trying to get treated for something else and afraid because she's an NP will say let's get all these food out of your diet first and see what happens. Secondly, I believe that some food intolerances and sensitivities may go away with lack of inflammation.

Also, I really really am not ready to find out what foods I shouldn't be eating.

So if you've had one of these done, the type where you put 5 drops of blood on a card and send it to a lab. I'd like to hear about your experience.

I think I'm going to have her put the results in a sealed envelope and put it away.

I had to get tested after coming down with an allergy based auto-immune disease. I had blood (not the one you had), skin prick and patch testing.

I went to a second allergist for further testing because I thought the first allergist wasn't being thorough enough. I lost confidence in the skin prick testing because the results were different from one office to the next. The blood test wasn't consistent with the skin prick testing either and patch testing showed nothing.

I'm not sure what to tell you. It's your call. If you aren't ready then you don't have to know right now, or take it with a grain of salt, or keep a food diary and go by how you feel (it's possible to have delayed reactions though). If you decide to look at the results maybe try some eliminations but not all of them at once. It can be overwhelming.

I think you need to be careful of what sort of test you take. I've read some tests that are not very reliable, I think the ELISA test was one. Find out what sort of test it is and then google on "Testname reliability".
