sour cream is absolutely DELICIOUS on strawberries. especially the full fat kind, but i used fat-free because it was the only kind in the house. it doesn't taste sour.

sour cream and blueberries is also delicious! I wish that they made a Splenda brown sugar. Then, I would have sour cream mixed with some brown sugar and berries. YUM YUM

There is an artificial sweetener that is brown sugar...I think its called Sugar Twin. I bought some almost a year ago and have only used it once in a recipe, but it tasted a lot like brown sugar to me.

I've had sour cream with splenda and natural peanut butter, stirred together. Makes a pudding, way too good.

I went to a restaurant years ago (The Blue Strawberry) that served the following dessert:

Whole, plump, room-temperature strawberries dipped in full-fat sour cream and then dipped in brown sugar. Oh my God, they were scrumptious. And very pretty, too.

I have server them many a time to people who turned their nose up at the idea until they tasted them.

I have no idea what one would now substitute for the brown sugar ...

Yes there is a brown version of sugar twin. IN canada it is cyclamate, in the us sacharin. IMO both taste nothing like brown sugar at all, and are down right nasty in the taste dept. But everyones different in their likes and dislikes.

Last year when strawberries were in season, this was my favorite way to eat them. Just slice 'em up, sprinkle with a little brown sugar twin and a then a dollop of sour cream. Delicious!

I just thought I'd add to this thread that netrition now has a splenda product that is brown sugar instead of white.

Read the lable carefully. Bown Sugar Splenda Blend is actually about 50% sugar and 50% splenda. So not something you can really use on Atkins.
