Default Do I Have A Good Doc For Hypo?

My GP (who is a DO) told me the other day that he suspects I am hypo because over the last 3 visits in 9 months, my body temp has gone down a degree. My body temp and blood pressure have always been really low (like my Mom's).

He said that my gut infection was likely due to hypothyroidism. He also said he was going to have a blood glucose test done.

These are the three blood work prescriptions I was given.

-Liver Panel (this is my standard issue because I am taking Diflucan which is known to cause liver problems on occasion).
-Cholesterol Panel (I guess this is related to hypothyroidism?)
-Thyroid panel. This included TSH, T4, T3, R-T3, Reverse T3 and antibodies to T4 or T3 (can't recall which it said).

Is there a glucose work up in there somewhere? It didn't seem like it from what I know of diabetic testing.

Is my GP doing everything he should be? Is there more I should tell him to test for?
Should I tell him there is a family history (found out yesterday) with my Mom's thyroid?
Should I tell him I take a kelp pill and flaxseed everyday?

Me so confused!

He ordered a very complete thyroid panel, which is a good sign. I've seen around 15 doctors for the thyroid, and I find that the two markers of a good doctor are: orders free T3 and T4 testing, and once he/she gets the results, still checks for symptoms (aka doesn't go just by the numbers).

And yes, I'd definitely mention the family history. I have a grandma with hypo I always mention, and I mention my long history of autoimmune diseases other than the thyroid, from the malabsorption I was born with to getting grey hair at 15 years old. LOL

Default Sugar test

Hi,
I am sure you have found out by now about your tests. I know that sugar and thyroid can cause the same symtoms. I am sure the doctor will rule out the thyroid, which I have and if all normal then go to the next test. With insurance now they have to do one thing at a time. Hope all is straightened out for you.
