Default vegetable oils and olive oil shopping

How can you tell if the olive oil you are buying is good - no (less?) vegetable oils in the contents? AKA PUFA. Below pic link is of the ingredient list of California Olive Oil that we get. It shows 1.5g of Polyunsaturated Fat (PUFA) - so does that mean it's a bad choice for olive oil?

Do more expensive, more authentic olive oil show zero Polyunsaturated Fat (PUFA) in the ingredient list?

I too have started looking to find what facts decide better quality.

So far.....

date of pressing
one source

and Imo glass not plastic....however there remains question that stoeage could be in lg tanks of plastic before recanting into glass.

Have not found a source with dates.

I've been buying California Olive Ranch for several years now. Problem is they've now started selling imported blend under the same name. Maybe it's high demand or it could be low crop harvests in Cali, idk but this new practice of using imported oil is not good. I found out by accident when DH piked up a bottle for me and did not read the label. I took it back and exchanged it for a pure Cali olive oil. It's a much smaller bottle now. Like liquid gold!

I love the Colavita evoo .. it's expensive but at least readily available in my area.

Not on the list, but recommended, are certified x.virgin olive oils from Crete .. especially from Chania region. Volcanic soils, hot Mediterranean climate .. ancient olive groves. Delicious taste. I love, love, LOVE this fruity oil. For guaranteed purity, look for "ABEA" designation on the label. https://www.abea.gr/en/products/ext...c-olive-oil-en/ .. Their products are imported worldwide, including Canada and USA.

I used to buy the California Olive Ranch oil but stopped when they started importing the oil. I just couldn't be sure about it. I now use the Zoe brand that is also on the list. It comes in metal cans.

jean, is there a plastic lining on those cans ?? Some food cans have a lining, so was wondering about the half gallon cans, too.

Unless you use it constantly in a large amount like for a big family or a restaurant, buying that much at a time defeats the purpose because it goes rancid before you can use it.
Even the quart size of the Cali Olive Ranch, I threw away the last 2-3 inches when I replaced it with a fresh bottle because it smelled border-line rancid to me even though it wasn't expired yet.
