Question My body is producing too much sugar

Hi all. I'm very nervous. As you may know in this area. I recently saw my doctor and he put me on a new med. Sorry can't remember its name but it makes my body produce even more insulin.

Ok. I also found out that my body produces 4-5 times the sugar than it really needs due to my stubborn cell walls. I thought I was insulin resistant but sugar resistant too?

Well anyway. If I don't eat breakfast my blood sugar naturally goes to 180-200 with no food. I had to quit coffee and caffenated products, like dark chocolate. And now I have to see a diebetic manager monthly. She told me to eat 45 carbs per meal. She also said carbs act as triggers to tell the liver to not produce sugar.

I said no way to eating 45 carbs per meal! She then said ok 30 carbs per meal. I can barely get 15. So I ate a 1/4 cup of low sugar cereal with my kefir. (26 net carbs - I have no idea what to reduce kefir's carbs by yet) my blood sugar before lunch was 156. Wow nice and low.
The manager said the goal for me is to have a level blood sugar and not so many swings.

Ok here is my issue: If I eat low carb at breakfast (less than 15 carbs) my prelunch blood sugar is 186-190. If I go higher carb (15-30) I have a prelunch of 148-156. After lunch (which is low carb - yes I'm ignoring my manager), my low carb breakfast day is at 138. After lunch with my higher carb breakfast i'm 108.

and for the predinner my low carb breakfast is usually 126 (but it has been as low as 86) while on the higher carb breakfast is 132. After dinner (30 carbs) the LCB is 220 and the HCB is 165.

Sure my blood sugar is more even but at what cost? Does blood sugar that jumps up and down really hurt my body? Should I add carbs to my lunches?

Blood sugar that jumps up and down does really hurt your body, yes. It can cause permanent, serious damage, and it can be the end of you.

Whilst I have said that, if you are committed to bringing your numbers down, there is no need to be too nervous, because people in this forum have brought them down from the numbers you are quoting. Also, if you do not have any complications yet, you can prevent them by bringing your numbers into normal range, and keeping them there.

I am not sure what you are saying in your post, sorry, but did you mean that when you eat higher carbs, your BG is lower?

156 is not a low BG, it is a pre diabetic BG and it is not good for your body to go that high.

Non diabetic blood glucose is 70 to 100, and that is the aim for a healthy body.

Ignoring advice to eat 45 (I assume grams of) carbs a day was probably smart, most diabetics would not have a hope of good control at that rate.

The amount of carbohydrates someone can eat and sustain normal blood glucose is different for different people.

The best thing to do is check your blood with a home meter one hour and two hours after every meal, and adapt what you are eating until the readings are all in normal range.

Suggestion. My clients have had improved glucose control taking 200 mcg of GTF chromium first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

I don't like the drugs that make the body produce more insulin as, I think, they cause the pancreas to burn out faster.

If you cannot get the control YOU want with oral meds and diet, then it is time to start using insulin.

I am not sure if this applies to Lessara right now though, she only just started a new drug, and perhaps she has not tried eating to her meter yet...

Hi all. One of the things that is having issues with this meds is the fact if I don't feel like eating it causes my sugar to swing low then high. So I have to eat. I eat meat and veggies which do not like to be room temp at work. I'm working with a dietician who knows my food allergies and money issues to find a plan where I eat three meals a day at least. (She wants me to eat 3 snacks as well) I am fighting with her about carbs I just don't see why I have to eat 30 grams at a snack! bless her heart she just wants to see my blood sugar even.

Unfortunately she does not seem aware that you will not get your blood sugar even on 30 grams of carbs per snack. At least I would not have thought so, you would have to be not diabetic to stand a chance.

Careful planning and some cooking skills are the easiest way to low carb on a tight budget.
