Default One day down!!

Well the first day of induction has been completed successfully and with relative ease... I'm just waiting for the difficulties to set in as the low carb food loses its novelty value!! I'm going to family until next thursday which will be a real trial especially with new year and all that alcohol... oh well I'm gonna give it my all!!

Smile Hello

Hello,
I have also completed one day of Atkins. I have successful lost over 50 lbs on Atkins before. Then the doctor ordered me on a low calorie diet for my diabetes and I gained. So now, I found a new doctor and he agrees with Atkins low carb plan. So, I am back on again and can't wait to start feeling better. I hope you will have a nice time with your family.

Unhappy Confession..... starting again

Yeah.. well ummm.... I went to my families house with all the good intentions to stick to the atkins, but there was simply nothing there that would fit into the diet (my grandparents only serve vegetarian food) I suppose that is no real excuse, I basically am weak willed. But I didnt gain weight, so here I am on day one of the Atkins and this time there is no reason for me not to make it. Thankyou for your concern!

How are you doing?

Congrats to all of you for sticking in here!!! The first couple weeks are the toughest---- and thats ONLY 14 days--- so you know you can get through it!!
I started feeling exceptional by the 4th day and still feel more energetic than I have in a long time!!!
As to the excercise---- don't know where I just read it here but...
someone said in one of the threads that it was better to wait a week to let your body adjust to the new fuel burning.
If anyone else knows where it is and what the wait time suggested was---- jump in.
Of coarse--- I stretched my laziness to the max-- weeks and weeks ... but come Monday, the party is over... I'm getting serious!!
Good luck to all of you and I'll be seeing you around the board!!!
Ellie

Hi Ellie...

I will try and walk tomorrow I think..just for 30 mins. I went to lunch today with my girlfriend..and what a test that was for me. We went to mexican..and much to my surprise..I didnt even want the chips and salsa that she ate ...it was amazing...I thought it would be hard..but it wasnt at all. I had a great salad and did good.

Default A tip for socialising

When you are going somewhere to eat, and you are worried about the food, why not take somthing along you know you can eat. I started Atkins the week before Christmas and 3 weeks vacation at home.

Whenever I was invited anywhere I offered to bring a salad (ceasar), bag of nuts, a cheeseplate, a desert (low carb cheesecake). It sure helped. I didn't cheat once, and all my relatives and friends were so grateful that I helped out by bringing some food. I didn't even mention that it was low carb.

Friends would ring and say, "lets go out for dinner" and my reply (for now on induction) was "why not come over to my place for bbq/dinner" They didn't know the difference and thought my goats cheese/baby spinich/walnut/olive salad was delicious.

Sounds like you are doing great!

Kim

Smile Thanks

Hi everyone..
Thanks for the tips and encouragement. I did go buy some of the keto strips and was a little disappointed in my color. I thought I had been doing pretty good..but it wasnt purple..just pink.

I have realized an important lesson in all this..that I know this is going to have to be a way of life..and not just the "diet" I am on..I do feel much better..and can tell the difference.

Default Keto strips

Hi Laura,

I think its ok for it to be pink. Any shade is ok, but I was told that purple (dark) is a sign of dehydration?

Take a read here:

Cheers

Hi LauraW....
Don't let those stix discourage you!! There are people here well on the way to their goal and they have NEVER registered ketosis on the stix!!! If you are not as hungry, don't have cravings, feel good, and start to lose pounds or inches--- you're in ketosis and don't need the stix to tell you this is working!!

K-Louise-- thats what I do too!! Bring at least one allowable food with you when going to someones house to eat.

At restaurants... I find it easy!! There is almost always some kind of yummy salad, broiled fish, chicken, steak---- always find something on the menu to make a nice meal and stay within my carb range.
HAPPY LOCARBING!!!
Ellie

Default hi girls

I glad to see my buddies are getting into the lo carb way of living.
I worked at Nazareth House and I was very tired when I got home. Yestersday, I really over ate all carbs but I ate to many pork rinds. My stomach is still messed up.
Laura, I love to go buffet style breakfast and lunch because I eat a good salad, and all the baked meat I can eat. Everyone can't believe I eat so much and still lose.
Well, it is going to be a short one tonight. I am going to bed early. I email tomorrow.
P.s. I do have a joural. Please stop by and read it.
Goodnight,
