Default Kelp noodles?

Anyone tried them? I was searching for an addition to my i-herb order, and found these. Curiosity had me add a packet to my order. 3 carbs per serving. I don't have a huge yearning for pasta anymore, but thought I would give it a try to see if I can't meet DH halfway on our food choices . Made a veg stir fry with shrimp this evening. It was quite nice. Might try Korean japchae next, as we both like that. I am not yet convinced that they would work in a more Western (read: Italian) dish, but they seem to be quite appropriate for Asian recipes.

I found them years ago when I lived walking distance from a Chinese grocery store. I didn't like them, but I think you're right that they'd be perfect for Asian dishes, particularly seafood... and I don't care for shrimp, etc.

Maybe I'll give them another chance sometime as a glass noodle type dish like the japchae you mentioned; I could probably drown out the flavour with enough tamari, sesame oil and chili garlic sauce.

I think I remember thinking that the noodles "tasted like Lake Ontario."

Kristine, these didn't taste like anything at all, absolutely tasteless to me. Nor did they smell coming out of the package, though I rinsed them off as directed. They did have a somewhat "crunchy" texture, when I tried a bit before cooking, but that just translated to "firm" after cooking. I just tossed them in with the veg for the last few minutes (4 or 5) of cooking, and that seemed about right.
I had read about kelp noodles, but never saw them for sale until perusing the i-herb site. These are from Sea Tangle Noodle Co
