Default Which magnesium form best for regularity?

I want the benefits of magnesium for my body but also for helping me stay regular which is something I battle often. Is it better to take magnesium citrate tablets or magnesium oxide? I'm confused about the different forms.

According to my recent searches, the "ate" forms are utilized better than the oxide. There are several in addition to citrate, but citrate should be fine.

Citrate is the best for the laxative effect. Glycinate/Aspartate/Malate are the best for elemental magnesium absorption.

Citrate works well for me, although i have read that oxide is best. Hm.

Hi there!

This should do the trick. It's a mix of Mg citrate and oxide, which should work well to clear out the pipes!!!

I have some at home, too, but haven't needed to try it yet. I bought it "just in case", rather than having to resort to prunes.

I would maybe take one tablet first of all (they contain 500mg) and see what happens. Perhaps first thing in the morning???

I know of one poster who recommended that laxatives and sleeping pills never be combined, so I would maybe not take it at night, so that you don't end up having to race to the loo in the wee hours!!!

I would only take this as a laxative, though, not to get my magnesium levels up. It doesn't work for that.
