Default Trace Minerals

Anyone out there know much about trace minerals and depression? I just ordered some trace minerals that will allow me to get 72 trace minerals daily. This is called ConcenTrace and there is a man (not on this particular one) but he claims that he has bipolar and after 20 years of problems with it, etc., he discovered that by eating a seafood meal each day and taking the 72 trace minerals, he was able to overcome bipolar. I have not been diagnosed with that, but feel very strongly that I may have it as my good days are REALLY good, and my bad days are HORRIBLE!

I don't know anything about the trace minerals.

The EPA omega-3 fatty acid found in fish and fish oils has been shown in quite a few studies to improve bipolar and depression.

Dr Atkins was very big on the notion that "nutrition" solved most health problems out there. Depression and anxiety, while not always completely cleared up, proper nutrition usually alleviates the severity.

I was clinically diagnosed with anxiety (mild depression) and was cleared up in a couple of months with proper "nutrition".

So what is proper "nutrition"?

Low carb diet and supplements. Note that mild exercise also helps (you don't have to go jogging).

For supplements - I recommend a high quality "mega" multi-vitamin and (as the previous poster pointed out) mega fish oil.

The multivitamin will contain the minerals that you talked about.

Default Consider a professional diagnosis

All for addressing mental states with supplements and nutrition. It can be helpful to get some professional assistance with diagnosis, however. Mood swings are not the same thing as bi-polar, which tends to come with extreme behaviors at both ends. There are often specific clinical markers for the major diseases--I had a friend shilling for adult ADHD and when I talked to a professional, it was clear I did NOT have several of the markers.

Good luck.

other good supplements to try...
1) wild salmon fish oil (high in vitamin d and omega 3s)
2) barley grass powder (alkalizes the body, balances mood)
