If chicory is the main ingredient it defintaley does have a sweet taste.
We get liquid and chicory grains for coffee substitues over here and they the drink is quite sweet.

I find the information on their site a bit strange as with regards with the definition of the product.
Also if it really does have all the 0's as with regards to sugar, carbs etc why isn't it more popular ?

I got to Whole Foods today and tried the "Just Like Sugar" substance and found it compared to stevia, in my opinion. I would not bother to switch from stevia. I am curious to hear if anyone else tries it. (I used it in my coffee.)

Odd that they claim it's not fermentable. IIRC inulin and fructo-oligosacharride are both fermentable fiber (they are similar, inulin is a shorter chain molecule and sweeter) and have been promoted as healthy prebiotics.

Went to Whole Foods and got a coffee so I could put some of the Just Like Sugar in it and try it. Really, I didn't find a difference worth changing from Stevia. I am disappointed, but maybe things that are too good to be true don't exist!

Seriously, I bought a box of Truvia, a stevia derivative and used that in the Cran Walnut bread. I did it with dried unsweetened apricots and 12 packets of Truvia. It turned out great except it was not giving me that "zing" sweetness you can get with either real sugar or artificial sugar. I think next time I will try to sweeten it a bit more. Excellent recipe.

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry that you were disspapointed with the product. I'll get some Truvia when I come to the states as I've not seen it online.

I have to agree with you. Sweetners available don't really give you a sweet taste as compared to sugar. Apparently if you combine 2 different ones you'll get a more concentrated touch of sweetness.

I'll be experimenting with Xylitol and Stevia when making some brownies.
