Default A pound of bacon???

Every time I eat bacon (4 strips) I gain a pound. Thankfully it goes away in 2 days because I really, really, really love bacon.

Sliced ham will do the same thing.

I imagine it makes me hold water - but that's an uneducated guess.

I wonder if anyone else has this resut?

I also wonder if it is water or something else?

In any case, I'm not going to quit eating bacon. But if it didn't put the weight on I'd eat it more often.

Bob

I am by no means an expert, and there are far more experienced people able to answer, but I'd assume it was maybe water retention. Like, bacon is super salty, so it might be that? So if it's only water your body is hanging onto - wouldn't that just be a temporary increase on the scale?

I agree - its just fluid retention
I too love bacon
if it creates fluid retention - so what
so do alot of things I don't like as much as bacon
And fluid retention is not fat

I guessed water myself.

I'm in no way going to stop eating bacon.

As long as it's temporary, I don't mind. I'm down below my goal weight anyway by 10 pounds -- 8 after I eat bacon -- and in a couple of days, back to 10 pounds down.

Hey Bob, maybe the solution is to eat it EVERY DAY and then you won't see the fluctuation! LOL

Most bacon also uses sugar in the cure. The ingredient list will confirm.

Otherwise ham makes my ankles swell, until the day arrived when they just stayed swelled. lol

I like that a lot!!!!!

Yes most bacon has sugar. If you can find it, Gwaltney has a zero carb no sugar added brand:

It's absolutely delicious too.

You'll lose it in two days if it works for you like it works for me.

I eat bacon once or twice a week.

BTW, cured ham does the same thing to me.

If I paid attention to fluctuations of a pound or two from one day to the next, I'd go crazy. Spare yourself.

And eat the bacon.

Haha, ditto. I weigh myself every day and my scale constantly fluctuates up and down, even 3-4 pounds fluctuation rather than a mere 1-2.

I weigh myself every day but I don't obsess over a pound or to from day to day. Instead I watch for longer trends either upward or downward.

Don't misunderstand me, I don't deny myself bacon or ham. I just wondered if other people experienced the same thing. I also wondered if my water weight guess was correct or not.

I had bacon today. I get the thick sliced kind, and it's like the bacon of my youth. That Gwatley product I linked earlier is really good.

I definitely get weight fluctuations over a 1-4 pound range. I assum a lot of it is water weight but it’s never linked specifically with bacon.
