Default Dance Dance Revolution!

I've been doing Dance Dance Revolution on the PS2 for my workout. Anyone want to join me?

Benefits:
super fun
You start out gradually and move up to greater intensity as you advance in the game
It really gets your heart rate going
you can play for an hour without even realizing it!

Down sides
can be high impact in upper levels
The exercise mode is really boring and lame
it costs $50 to start if you have a PS2 already (but compare that to a class and you wine every time).

No one else?

I just got done with about 65 minutes of intense DDR work out. I'm at a point in the game where I really have to try, and try, and try to pass the various challenges in order to move on. That's a good thing, I spent over an hour trying this one challenge, and I just can't get the last song I need. But boy did I break a sweat trying, and the hour flew by.

I love this game! My one regret with starting my new job is that I don't have time to play it anymore except on weekends. But 3 times a week of this is really excellent!

Alas, no PS2--otherwise would be excellent.

Howdy Koalaty,
Fancy meeting you here! Funny I was looking up DDR the other day, it looks like a lot of fun. I don't have it, but my husband bought a PS2 a little while ago, so I'm going to see if we can hook it up and try it out. I'll let you know-but it might be a little while as we're going away.

it's great great fun, and a great way to start out, I can't say enough about it!

Now I'm at a really hard point though, and advancing is becoming more and more difficult.

I LOVE DDR, son and I just played DDR2. It is so much fun and you don't feel like you're "working out". I get so tired of exercise but this is one I can do every day. It is hard working up the levels and we're always competing to get AA's. Son usually beats me but I have a blast. I would highly recommend this.

Bought the Dance Dance Revolution bundle for Wii. My wallet is hurting, but I've heard so much good stuff about it, and everyone is saying its a great workout.

Default alternative to DDR

Hey if you dont have a PS2 you can buy a dance game that plugs right into your tv. Its a little cheaper maybe not as good of songs, but it works. My neices play it, since they dont understand the PS2. My kids have DDR and it is great, but just incase you have another option.

My husband bought the DDR for me to use on his PS2. I've tried it a few times and you are right...the time flies and I get a great workout. However, I have one of the plastic pads that I use on carpet. I keep hearing that the metal pads are better. Also, is it better to exercise barefoot or in workout shoes?

Whoa! I used to kicked ass at DDR!! I played every singele version on Playstation and Playstation 2! Then I became an anorexic.. and obviously I wasn't strong enough to keep playing. :/ Then I recovered but never really played again. And then I became bulimic.. (the story of my life *sigh*) and now I'm on diet again... lol.

Anyway.. I should play again. I was amazing. Pure AAA scores. It is better to play barefoot, but be careful 'cause if you have a crappy pad it might move a lot and you won't be able to play that much. Metal pads are the best way. Back in the day, I used to hit the mall for an entire afternoon and play. Everyone watched me, like I was a dance goddess! lol. Good times.
