Default P90x

i did this workout system back in 2004 and had great results in terms of muscle development and definition - and just general fitness level. I just started my current 90 day rotation on the weekend.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is currently doing P90X.

I recently finished up my recent round of P90. I'm ready to move onto the X. I have been working out to beachbody tapes for the last 3.5 years. I did the P90x for 2 rounds in 2005-06. We both got really good results.

I was wondering if you were doing strictly low carbs throughout the workouts?... Was it easier to do targeted ketogenic diet (TKD).

Hi Rick, By TKD do you mean eating all or most of the carbs 30-60 minutes before working out? No I never did this. I was eating just regular old Atkins style during my last rotation and that's what I'm doing now also.

I'm just on week 2 now, and I'm planning to go the full 90 days although I might have to substitute sometimes for PlyoX and KenPo as they are not my favourite things for cardio. As for the strength training DVDs I'm definitely going to hang in with those for the whole program.

Good luck to you if you decide to BRING IT!! It's a program that really does produce results, I think.

I was thinking more along the lines of nutrient partitioning... basically eating no carb morning/afternoon. Then following workout using high glycemic carbs and protien.

Are you avoiding kenpo and plyo because you are bonking or do you prefer other cardio workouts?

No, I do nothing like that. What is supposed to be the advantage of this? Is there any good reason to do this?

I just prefer more variation in my cardio. I'll do them for as long as I can take it, then I'll sub in other stuff that is somewhat similar. I just like variety.

P.S: I don't know what 'because you are bonking' means - sorry.

I'm a regular "power 90" workout kinda guy... so I prefer just doing the workouts the way they are set-up in the program. I love the results on both power 90 and p90x. I've done power 90 on lower carbs, but nothing approaching ionduction level of carbs.

Thanks for your input, good luck on your next round.

Rick

I recently started taking a boot camp class at the gym but also want to start doing Power 90. I tried it before...but didn't stick with it..but should have as I saw results right away in my measurements, and improved stamina. I'm really looking forward to starting again and THIS TIME doing the full 90 days and seeing how it goes!! I also purchased Turbo Jam from Beachbody and looking forward to trying that again after Power 90.

Hi Gwen, I have a couple of the power90 DVDs - Power Circuit 3/4 and a lower body one. They're really good, solid workouts. I'm sure you'd get good results using them.

I've made it to week four of P90X and finally, I'm doing no substitution except for YogaX. I've definitely gained some muscle and even some decent abs definition, so woo-hoo!

OK--I've thought about doing this and since you guys are actually doing it now, I have a question. I've had some recent surgery and have to avoid doing pectoral muscle work (pushups, etc). I can pretty much do everything else except isolated pecs. How much of the P90X work involves pushups and isolated pecs? Is it going to really throw off my ability to benefit?

Thanks for any advice you have. By the way, what's the cheapest way you've found to acquire these? Any tips?

Hi there...I bought the P90X system but I haven't started it yet...for those that are doing it, what was your fitness level when you began the program?

Holy cow, I started P90X today...it was tough but I made it all the way thru the chest and arms, I didn't do the ab ripper yet, but I will do it tonight. I think I'm going to have to move the Polymetrics around the schedule because I plan to work out at 4am and there are other people sleeping in the house and jumping around at that hour won't be good. But I have to say, I can feel it and it feels good.

I've heard great things about these workouts. Do you need any special equipment to do them? I really want to order a set of DVDs but if I'm going to need equipment too I'll have to save up.

How hard going is the cardio element?
