Default what is your cheese max amount per/day?

A lot of people on here say that cheese is their "stall." Well, if we're all maintaining, we don't "stall," right? So...how often do you eat cheese, and how many ounces?

Right now, zero, and it seems to have been the problem with not losing weight.

I probally have 1 to 2 ounces some days. I don't have cheese everyday. Just depends on what I'm eating that particular day.

I have been eating more than the 1-2 oz recommended. Probably closer to 4-6 oz. depending on the day. That may be part of my current gain, along with high salt.

I've been controlling cheese as well. I hate to have to resort to that because I LOVE cheese. But, I'm thinking for maintenance that I'll only eat it when it REALLY matters--like Pizza, on top of chili, certain casseroles, a cheeseburger and forego it when it's only an accompaniment or go very lightly (like on certain salads).

My two cents--KB

I don't eat cheese every day, only once a week or so. And when I do eat it, it's a very small portion...an ounce.

It's not that I actively avoid cheese, or don't eat it when I really want to. I just don't want it that often, I guess, even though I really do love it.

I'm with Baugherk - I have maybe an ounce or two a day. I save it for when it really makes a difference in the dish.

Some people suggest using it as a condiment in order to cut back, but I'm usually doing the opposite. Cheese as a condiment seems like a waste - I'm happy with ketchup and mustard on my beef patty; I'd rather thinly slice some good cheese and savour it on its own.

That said, on the topic of condiments, I use a lot of three-cheese ranch dressing because you're getting cheesiness without much cheese. Ditto with dry grated parmesan.

It's true that stalling isn't really an issue when you're in maintenance, but cheese can be one of those problem foods for people. I find that it can turn a self-limiting food into an stuff-myself food.

I personally get away with eating a lot of cheese and always have throughout my low carb way of eating. Never kept track of ounces, but sometimes there are even days I eat it with every meal, plus snacks. Personally its one of those things that is really satisfying so I end up not overeating on calories when I include it with my meals. Of course this isnt the case for everybody. Also me being male and fairly young probably has something to do with me not having problems with it. Doctor says to keep up with it though because of my osteoperosis.

Most days I have about an ounce in my breakfast frittata. I rarely eat a slice of cheese as a snack...it is just not filling enough. Cheese is rarely a part of my lunch or dinner, but if it is (eg. eggplant lasagna, eating the cheese and toppings off traditional pizza), I don't usually eat more than 4 ounce daily.
That said, I am not that strict.
