Glad to see you are out having fun. And getting airborne! Wow! A friend of mine talked me into doing a kayak sunset paddle on the St. Croix - first time doing that for me. A bit nervous I would end up in the drink, but it was totally mellow. Totally unlike your foiling.

Enjoy the sun and catch some air!

Marvin and Meme - Maybe I will keep one of those Drums if I can catch another. I mainly just catch and release and Meme, the drums were biting on artificial little jigs, Lil' Hustler tubes http://www.southernpro.com/store/st...m?Category_ID=1

Renee, good you got in the kayak and had fun, I'm reminded again of the saying, "Life begins where your comfort zone ends". Ace!

Talking about getting airborne some of my friends went to a different lake then I did last weekend. Both were windy but the kiters will killing it here. Dang youths can really air it out with limber quickly recovering bodies and open minds...

Same lake yesterday and a terrific kitefoiling session. Best session yet under kite and on foilboard. This is a picutre from the lake above near the launch where the weeds grow tall

And a few days ago end of session with a double rainbow (double showed up later on the drive

and a nice picture of my current windfoil setup. So stoked with this!

I've been having sessions every day this month. Today looks like it will not work out. Good. This body needs a break.

Ran my body almost to the limit of physical activity in cold water on Sunday. Was on the water for 5 hours foilboarding and teaching someone new. At the end of the session I was starting to make too many mistakes, said to myself if this doesn't stop on this run I'm done. I was done.

The next morning 211 on the scale and after a day of fasting (Monday) 204. The max my body weight has changed in a day is 8lbs - so I don't find that unusual. Extreme activity and good hydration ADD body weight for my body. Fasting also lowers it artificially. This is why I think it's good advice to do NEITHER if you're concerned about the scale and loosing weight unless you complete understand that the only constant is changing body weight, and get this, YOU ARE NOT IN AS MUCH CONTROL AS YOU THINK YOU ARE.

My take on this just to keep doing what you think is sounds nutrition for an extended time (like multi-months or years) and see what happens. And accept what happens. It might not be what you expected. It might be better, or worse. Who knows. Will you be better perpared to cope and deal with the dung life throws your way, which it will do, inevitable? I think so. You'll be on more stable ground from all the practice you've done. Not so easy to tip off balance.

Start today! The only day you can do anything about your future.

Great day of fishing in the rain from paddleboard with one of my brothers on Saturday... I think this is the biggest Rock Bass i've caught

And still working out strapless kite foil board. Needing a foot strap or hook still to assist keeping board vertical on waterstarts. Sooo fuuunnnnnn!

Thats is from here. Flying high, willing to crash at any moment, then fly again. That's the way it works. Joy is sometimes commensurate with the pain you have to endure, and we all endure pain so let's have a good outcome from it

Lifestyle update on account of changing what and when I eat and on account of "workout out program" "Workout" for me means go have fun out side, rain or shine. Inside with machines to sterile and not sustainable for me. Those conditions are reserved for rehab or training - very specific purpose, limited length of time. <--- that right there makes is non-sustainable and unfulfilling. I'm not trying to get fuckable, I'm just trying to develop a body and mind that is in harmony with the idea that it will age, get sick and someday die.

Work (for money)

Shop (for food)

Eat (for health)

Play (for fun)

Learning so much each session on Windsurf Foil and Kite Foil - bottomless pit of exploration. Also doing well on a 90 day practice session of not eating 2 days a week. These days are indicated by "00" under Nc (Netcarbs) Body weight slowly creeps downward.

For a change of pace, some of what I've been eating since last "Gym Log" - stuff like this...

Thai Red Curry Crackslaw w/Konjac Oat Fiber ditalini noodle

Chicken Breasts w/Bacon Gravy and Mock Butter

More Chicken Breasts w/Fried Sauerkraut

Till next entry, keep working out!

Messed up and missed placed a day in last post (0614). On the water workouts remain very high intensity and duration. Need a day off and today is the day (no wind) Learning how to kitefoil is taking most of my time. It's thrilling!

Finally at 90Kg - that's an easy number to remember and useful for knowing floatation of windsurf and SUP boards.

And some fuel, Chicken, Coleslaw and Flax Bacon Gravy

I was currious so I hooked myself up to my OMRON blood pressure gage this morning and was a bit supprised by the result. Not sure if it's "too low" I'll check but I feel fine. I've also been ingesting a lot of "Snake Juice" which is Pink Salt, No Salt and ACV - I'm getting WAY over the daily recommneded amount of Na and K

End of the month report: Ace!

Having so much fun on the kitefoiling side of things. Almost exclusivly doing that unless there are some other that are windsurf foiling. So much to learn, too bad only one life time to do it but that provides a good back drop to the learning. It's really not that important what we get accomplished as we'll have to let it go, piece by piece, day by day until the end.

What we gain, we lose. So I'm not attaching to the results of the learning, I'm simply fascinated by them and appreciate them for what they are, temporary changes. A larger focus and one with more lasting results is that If I can spread some knowledge, joy and kindness to others along the way, that has more ripple effect into the future - that is the only real and lasting impression to offer the world and, beautifully, one that you'll never know the result of. This is OK.

An advantage to learning something new is that it let's you practice the beginners mind again - and with this practice try to apply it to what you already think you know about everything else. What you think you know to be true is likely not, or at the very least, much different than you perceive it today. Let it change over time, don't grasp old ideas, let them bend to match the new truths that continue to arise!

Like a FOIL from the WATER, or the PHOENIX from ARIZONA!

New 42" 4lb foil board from Horacio (Mahalo!)

June was a good month. Now it's gone. Never to be repeated again. Isn't that grand?!?!

Wow, where does 2 weeks go? Nowhere. I'll tell you where, more fun and sun on the water. Has been an excellent start to July and learning tons strapless kitefoiling and (note to myself) I'm hitting and riding away toe side on switch heel2toe transitions. Working on a session that is mostly weak side riding back and forth. Aces!

I've backed off fasting from minimum 2 days a week to 1 - my weight is about where it needs to be and my body is comfortable maintaining this range. No doubt that it will likely continue to creep down but I'm fitting into all the clothes and board shorts that I was using last year at 185lbs so as far as fitness goes I'm probably in better shape, more able - continuing to count carbs, prioritize protein and fill with fat Thank you Dr. B. Bikman!

Random picture since last update to pump up my views and piss off my internet service provider

As I was leaving my bedroom yesterday I snapped this after gasping and commenting to myself that I think I have bad GAS - Gear Acquisition Syndrome

Breakfast this morning...

Picture of a spent man after long kitefoiling session...

Newest kite into the quiver, will be great on skates and high wind foiling perhaps. It's small 2.8M - Thanks Michele from Maui

Since reviewing some of these posts, I started watching vids of kite foiling. Looks wild. These guys are really flying! I've long been interested in maybe learning wind surfing... haven't done it yet... this looks not necessarily easier, but maybe requires less upper body strength? I guess you like it better?

I live fairly near the Columbia River Gorge...

Hi π ! thanks for stopping by. Kite foiling is my new hobby it's a lot of fun, exciting and and endless opportunity to learn new stuff with fairly "concequence" as they say in the skateboard circles. And yes, you are litterally flying, flying a small airplane under the water with your feet, legs and body above the surface.

Hood River is a place I spent summers 10+ years ago, windsurfing every day there was wind and skating the other days. Go to Big Winds in HR and they'll setup lessons for you or I think you might just be able to go to the "Hook" down by the event site and get lessons. It's a really good spot for learning.

Not much upper body strength needed for either as you spend most of the time in a harness that connects your body to the sailing rigs.

happy sailing!

I've been doing some traveling to check new spots out and staying pretty active. Mostly concentrating on Kitefoiling - there's a lot to learn there and it's super fun to do, in fact, heading out around noon today to meetup with some friends and foil for a few hours if I can get some work done this morning. I've also rigged my smallest paddleboard so that I can fish from it now. Talk about a balancing act. Here's a little video I took from it, feeding fish a high cabohydrate diet of Berklee "Gulp" fake grubs. I think they are biodegradable - at least I hope so for her sake...

Video of "The Fish Whisperer" http://downhaul.com/powerboard/1807...ameFish-web.mp4

Trip out to North Eastern North Dakota "Devils Lake" spent night at Casino, here's the "beach" meh....

Big Marine Lake DNR launch NE of St. Paul, MN - pertty lake, pertty weedy tho for foiling!

What we call the "Tot Lot" in Park Point - Duluth, MN. Windsurf Foiled here yesterday with a bunch of sailboats. Got to get up close to a huge ore freighter the "American Spirit" 1000 feet long, that's like 3 football fields. Intimidating!

Boring beach, yeah, but a fun time on the water. That ship is impressively large.

My exercise lately has been chores - gardening and cleaning. Worth it for the results, and I like gardening, but you'd hardly call it exciting. (I've got two green zebra tomatoes! How do you know when they're ready to harvest, being green and all?) Oh, and one forced hike when I couldn't find my car and ended up walking around for an hour trying searching hither and yon. So stupid. I must've spaced out and ended up walking right past it the first time.

Hey, there! Looks like you’ve been up to fun as usual. I was in North Dakota, too, for a couple days in June. I was over at Teddy Roosevelt doing a little hiking. The Painted Canyon at twilight is quite magical.

A bit jealous that you were out on the big lake. I get quite restless if I don’t see her at least a couple times a year...usually at my parents cabin, but will be going up to Two Harbors in a couple weeks to see what adventures I can find. One might involve climbing a fire tower.

Foil on, my friend!
