Whoa whoa. There are all kinds of posts from folks who don't lose in the first couple weeks. It's weird (to most of us), but it does happen.
There's a chapter in DANDR about being metabolically resistant. I would read that, there are some medications and other reasons this can happen. Also, from reading this board, many folks recommend giving up "frankenfoods" if you've been eating them during this time.
OK, here's my anecdote: One woman in our office started on Atkins in February. She was so excited. She brought in whole chickens and other things to eat. She had taken the test in the book, and realized that sugar had been ruining her life. The slow-down in the afternoon, the disoriented sleepy hours... A few days into Atkins she was alert all day with more energy than she ever had. The bad news? She lost no weight for the first month! And she stayed on induction! She stuck with it, and started to watch it pour off in month two.
By June, eight of us had started Atkins, and we all lost a bunch in the first two weeks, but I'm so grateful that woman went before us because she's happier, more energetic and 27 pounds lighter. She looks great. If it were me, I would have gotten discouraged in a month of no weight loss. Also, she's proceeded to go through several stalls of 4-6 weeks, but she just stays with the diet, and then loses. Again, that would bum me out, but watching her body change - the total long-term payoff - reminds me that I'll be glad I stuck with it. I can either be 3 months, 6months, or a year older and look the same. Or I can be a bit older and a bit thinner!
