Hey Jessica!

Tookie's is in Seabrook. It's a hamburger joint and they are famous for their onion rings. I have only eaten there once.

I don't eat out a lot but I guess my favorite restaurant would have to be Carraba's. We (hubby and I) eat at mostly chain restaurants.

Hey there Yankeemom! I worked out of the Bellaire area, so we are pretty close to each other!

I would suggest learning the route to Whole Foods. There is one off of Bellaire and Stella Link.

They have the most excellent salad bar! Actually, anyplace with a salad bar is ideal.

Lately I've picked up the habit of drinking alot of green tea at work. If you have a microwave and microwave safe mug, I recommend finding a real good green tea and start drinking it whenever you have a free moment.

I'm not too big on snacks..but sometimes I eat Laughing Cow cheese with celery.

Alright. Welcome to Houston and good luck on Atkins! I'm rooting for ya!

Howdy all - from NE San Antonio (Converse)

I just found this thread so thought I'd say hello. My wife and I are not from Texas originally, but as they say we got here as fast as we could :-) In fact she and I were grade school sweethearts in Wisconsin, I went into the military, and she came here and we got married in TX 12 year later. That was 36 years ago - next month.

I had been stationed here 4 times so it became home - our daughter was born here and she and her family are in the Houston area. Son is in Utah.

I'm retired (twice) and the Mrs plans to retire in January.

We both started Atkins 2 weeks ago today.

Nice to meet ya'll!

Cheryl

Thanks - and thank you and your hubby for serving! It was probably the best 30 years of my life, and I miss it. But I'm sure you could do without any more deployments!

We had often thought about living in New Braunfels - it's such a nice place. It's no Killeen, but hey... :-)

Thanks again!

Brian

Hi everyone, I am a Texan and I live in SW Houston. I have done Lcing before with great success but I was in a traumatic accident in 03' and fell off the wagon. Ever since then I started eating unhealthy, very unhealthy. I lost 70+ lbs before the accident and now I gained all the 70+ lbs. back over a 5 year period.

I am looking for a buddy in Houston that can provide support and vice versa. Anyone out there, message me.

Good luck, David

Hi all! Houston here! I have lived all over Houston. I lived in Sugar Land in the 80's when I was in high school. I have lived in SW Houston, Montrose, the Heights and now back in Montrose. Gotta love those hippies!

It's great to see a local thread!

Hi again y'all. I hadn't realized how long it had been since posting. I live in La Porte, TX which got hit pretty hard with Ike. Yes, Tookie's is gone for good. They aren't rebuilding. Hope everyong made it through the storm OK. Our boat ended up getting hit by another one so we had some top damage. at least she didn't sink.

Howdy MsChevious - glad you found us. Looks like you've made the rounds in the Houston area. Our daughter lived in Sugar Land, then Cypress and is now in Tomball where we'll be headed on Wednesday for Christmas.

Gumby - welcome back - glad you're ok after the storm!!
