Default Day Nine-and-a-Half

Man, yesterday was a BUSY day! I was running around so much, I think I actually met myself coming and going. It was definitely one of those days where I actually agree with people who say, "how does she DO that??"

While I didn't actually exercise, per se, I did spend two hours doing some major grocery shopping in the morning, followed by a short walk to the park for DS#1's baseball game, and of course the short walk back home. I was pretty wiped by the end of the day! Couple that with totally not eating right yesterday at ALL, and I figured I'd best save the actual workout until tonight. Date with the Sky Glider after the kiddos go to bed!

Damn...my Sky Glider has a frayed resistance cord, and I am having no luck tracking down a replacement. So, I am following up on a couple of things I found on freecycle, and debating on spending $30 on a used Tony Little Gazelle. :sigh: So, strength training again, instead of cardio...

Default Day Eleven - finally!!

I am back in business!

Yesterday I bought a used Tony Little Gazelle Edge, and I couldn't be happier with it. This model even folds up, unlike my old Sky Glider which I happily tossed in the trash. And the cables on the Gazelle are much stronger - they look like some sort of flight cables, unlike the rubber bands on the old thing. It's going to take a little getting used to, but I did a very intense session today. I started out with cycled cardio (or interval training as Tony Little calls it) but found after about ten minutes that I needed to slow down. Plus I worked up a great sweat the whole time. I'm thrilled!

18 minutes on the Gazelle

Thumbs up Day Twelve

25 minutes on the Gazelle

Yeah baby! Now, I didn't push myself as hard as I did the other day - kept a pretty straight pace instead of doing the cycled intervals like I used to. I think I'm going to do that for a few more days as my comfort level with this machine rises. Then it's back to the cycled cardio. Man, I love this thing!!

25 minutes on the Gazelle, testing out a few different paces today - I'm getting used to this new machine pretty quickly!

Well, Day Fourteen was actually June 28, I just forgot to mention it here in my Gym Log. It gets a little confusing when I am tracking exercises in two separate places! Anyway...

25 minutes of cycled cardio on the Gazelle - woo hoo!

This is, I think, the very first time I've done the whole 25 minutes exactly as I had planned when I made my workout mix. It was tough, I sweated a lot, but I feel GREAT! Yeah!!

Default Day Sixteen

Good grief, I finally made it back to the Gazelle tonight! I had planned to exercise on Tuesday, but DH and I did some major cleaning and reorganizing in the garage and my muscles were seriously sore the next day. So I am sort of counting that as a "strength training" day!

Tonight, only 20 minutes (HIIT) on the Gazelle. It was enough! Gotta try and exercise every night for the next five nights. I want to see the end of another 21-day challenge, even though I sure haven't been exercising daily as intended. I think tonight I'll go back to resistance training. I'm trying to loosely follow the Body For Life exercise plan, so I really need to include strength training in my routines and not just HIIT cardio.

Default Revised approach - new Day One

Starting today, I am changing how I plan my exercise routine. I have not kept up with my 21 days of exercise - that is, 21 days in a row - and as such have made little to no progress over the past three weeks. Starting today, I am counting each day as simply another day, and will list what exercise I have done, if any. I intend to exercise daily, alternating strength training and HIIT cardio.

Day One: Strength Training

20 reps each of:
Chest Press
Triceps Extension
Curl (2 sets)
Shoulder Press (adding this back in now that shoulder is back to normal)
Upright Row
Crunch
Squat
Seated Leg Curl
Standing Calf Raise

Default Day Four: none

Tuesdays are my main days which interfere with the daily exercise regimen. Too much stress and a Wednesday AM deadline make for a day when I don't want to work out!

Default Day Six: Back to Cardio!

25 minutes of HIIT cardio on the Gazelle

I actually meant to do this last night, but I just couldn't get geared up for it. Fortunately I knew I would have time this morning (and that hubby could handle the kiddos) so that's what I did. I even got it in first thing, before breakfast. Man, I wish I could do that every day! Maybe once the baby is older...

Also, I'm still planning on doing my strength training this evening.
