I went out and bought a turkey on Friday.
Roasted it long and slow over night in a 250 oven.
Next morning, my 19lb turkey was roasted and making the house smell all nice and cozy.

We've been eating on it all weekend.
Child #1 is leaving Wed for her Dad's for Tday, and Child #2 and I are going to Miami to family.
So... figured having the turkey here over weekend would bring the kids around and we could do some meals together.
It worked.

Been dying for some hash as well... (remember corned beef hash?)
I made a great big pan of Turkey Hash, using turnips and tons of onions. Will see how that comes out. Can eat on that all week.. Throw an egg on top for breakfast.

I find if I cook on weekends, there is all kinds of good foods in the fridge, and I won't go picking at the wrong foods..
Hate starting over all the time.
Don't y'all?

Good Monday Everyone!!!
Dragon - congrats on the weight loss!
Kiszes - good to see you back, and I love hondas! I have a 99 civic.
Pilotgal- you're food always sounds soooo good. (wish I was inventive with food!)
Challenges for last week:
Weighing once a week - only 20% successful
Logging in food - 100%
Didn't have wine, but that wasn't even on my personal challenge for the week.
This week:
stay off the scale and log food again.
For Thanksgiving - the family is getting together to eat around 2pm. Going to meet a friend's new gf (while Im in Illinois) then hit the movies later. Going to allow myself some extra carbs but stay away from sugar. Denise

My turkey hash turned out really, really good.
According to Fitday, turnips have practically no carbs, after you subtract the fiber content!
It was the onions that killed the carb count.
Have to remember that onions are high carbs.. drat!!!

I've been reading another member's journal.. She is nearly at 365 days of cheat free carb counting.
All she eats is veggies and protein.
Rarely eats cheese, and no frankenfoods..

She is losing weight like crazy.
If some people can do it, why can't the rest of us?

Who here needs motivation??

Most veggies are alkaline, and meat is very acidic (so is all dairy except cream)
Anyway eating veggies/meat together tends to balance pH - thus faster weight loss for some.
Very acidic systems = yeast in some people = slow weight loss. I know it's the case with me. But do I eat many veggies? NO ....I probably need to make that my challenge this week...more broccoli especially! Denise
p.s. almonds tend to neutralize acid - thats the reason I eat those almost every day.

Wow great information! I'm very into digestion for being type 2 diabetic unfortunately my digestion got out of whack. I don't digest my food well. So I started drinking Kefir which helped alot. Is Kefir (which is like yogurt) acidic? I too haven't been eating alot of veggies (due to my digestion before kefir, they would cause gas and stomach pains- so out of habit I stopped eating them) Are there veggies that are better for digestion? thanks so much.

Sorry for the late reply.

There are lots of different ways to carb-cycle, and the amounts can vary a lot, too. Mine is LC during the week (high fat, moderate protein, low carb) and carby on the weekends (moderate fat, low protein, higher carb). You can be a little flexible with it, but it's usually about 36-48 hours per week of carbing-up. I'm really liking it, and it seems to work with my personality. A couple of warnings though: If you're a scale addict (I'm recovering ) you can expect a pretty big jump after the weekends. Just water and glycogen (provided you did things right) but it can be disheartening. Also, you need to really stick with things during the week to allow for the weekends. It's supposed to get easier after time, but it can be hard to get back on on Monday. I hope that answers it.

How is everyone doing?
Are you diciplining yourself to only eat what you're supposed to eat?

Everyone hoping to lose another 10lb before Xmas?
30 days to go!
You could lose 2-2.5 a week, from this day forward..

I have not been cheating..
I have been eating the lowest possible carb count I can.
And I swear, I feel myself shrinking.
Everything is getting looser.

I mentioned someone on this forum, that I've been reading her journal..
she has given me much inspiration to eat like her, and visibly watch the lbs come down..

Actually, her and another girl are doing it... they are both shrinking.
So..... I jumped on the bandwagon, and I'm feeling it now too.

It's sooooooooooooo true about Atkins..
The original Atkins book in 1972 said, "keep your carbs at 10 or less per day, and you will lose weight."
It's been tried, and proved.

^5 Atkins!!!!

Good luck everyone....
Xmas is 30 days from now.

Congrats Lynne! I too am thinking about trying it also!
My challenges this week:
Logged food = 100%
Exercise = 30 % Can you believe I totally forgot about my weight training class on Wednesday - I was being a big couch potato that night when i realized what day it actually was. Darn holiday schedule threw me off. The fitness center at school was closed Thursday and all weekend and will open again tomorrow. Looking forward to it - swear my biceps have already shrunk! LOL Did ride my bike yesterday and walked today. No wine yet.

I have a Total Gym <<< over there in the corner, next to the TV...
Every now and then I remember to pull it out and actually use it!
I'm the worst when it comes to exercise.
I'd rather exercise my fingers on the keyboard... .
they're so strong and thin...

Another week of low carbing.
Although......... I just made a batch of Dreamfield's Linguini and smothered it in butter/olive oil/garlic and shrimp. It'll be a couple of meals tomorrow.. probly..
But there's tons of roasted veggies and roasted meats in the fridge..

No cheat foods.
Nothing to make me slip and feel badly, afterwards..

anyone else?

Hi lcgrrl

I just wanted to share my experience with you base on what you said earlier this week. Whenever I have only vegetables and chicken for the week I will lose up to 11 lbs. Amazing isnt it, not only that, let me tell you, my yeast disappear immediately and then I become yeast free, once I am on this WOE, but once I picked up the carbs again there goes the yeast and whatever other infection that comes with it, and beleive me, I am not active, where I could say it contributes to the yeast or what ever else, I am now realising the food plays a major part.

Just wanted to share my story, not sure if anyone else experience this.

Wow Pilotgal,

Are you for real, someone is actually doing this straight almost 365 days, you spoke with the person. Wow thats great.

I was talking with this chick about vegetables and protein only, she said she loves the diet but her doctor told her no more than 2 to 3 weeks then she must take a break, I am not sure why the hell he would tell her that, as far as I am concern carbs are far more a killer than protein and I am sure nshe is having carbs over 300 days per week.

i wanted to share something with y'all.
i had roasted some eggplant over the weekend for
food for the week?
today, i pulled out a couple of the cooked slices and heated them up... they have tons of dried herbs all over them.
but i wanted the slices 'wet.'

so i looked in the cupboard and found some raspberry vinegar.
oh wow...

that was perfect.
better than putting cheese on top.
(cheese slows my progress)
