On e.bay. there called Rick's trad. country pork scratchings. He posts worldwide and they were a reasonable price. 1.6 carbs per 100. Best I could find,
p.s. they are rock hard though! watch out teeth, but they last longer.lol

I grew up in the south (in the United States) so Pork Rinds were always around, but I didn't get into them until I started low carbing and to tell you the truth...

I have found one brand I love called Randolphs. My local walmart handles them, but man...its like eating bacon, really really crispy bacon....

I have them as snacks with Salsa love them now...

I have always liked pork rinds...they really satisfy my salty/crunchy craving, and I don't eat as much as I would regular potato chips. I'm glad I saw the pizza crust recipe...I'm going to have to try it!

I went on a hunt for porks rinds a couple days ago. Couldn't find them ANYWHERE. People looked at me like I had two heads when I asked if the store sold them

Finally I found a tiny bag at a local grocery store. My fiance bought them for me but said 'you better not eat these too often, they're sooo high in fat'. heehee. I proceed to munch happily on my pork rinds while he eats a big bowl of rice. In his mind, he is eating healthier food then I am. His culture is all about rice and potatoes. The pork rinds are like a slow artery death to him.

He'll be singing a different tune once he sees my results! I'm also going to show him my blood-work after a few month of butter, full-fat cheese, and PORK RINDS!!

I get my salsa from trader Joes...

its 1gm carb per serving.

Also If I just want to enjoy hotness, franks hot sauce which is peppers, vinagar and water will do it.

Where are you? I am in Ottawa and had the same problem. I hunted high and low and finally got frustrated and contacted Frito Lay to see who carried them. You might want to do the same... Turns out Food Basics had tons of them.

Also, my local gas station ordered them in for me.

Two ideas for you....

The rinds I buy have an ingredients list: pork rind, lard, salt. Crunchy and good.

Lard is often demonized, but G. Taubes debunks it in WWGF. Here is something I wrote for a class, based on Taubes stuff:

What is in lard? It is made from pork fat. 47% of it is mono-unsaturated fat and 90% of that is oleic acid, which is the main ingredient of olive oil. Mono-unsaturated fats raise HDL (good) cholesterol, and lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. 40% of the fat is saturated, but a third of that is stearic acid, the same fat found in chocolate which raises HDL and has no effect on LDL. The remaining fat is polyunsaturated which lowers LDL and has no effect on HDL. So 70% of the fat in lard will improve your cholesterol profile (Sources: Canadian Nutrient File, Taubes 2010 Why We Get Fat).

Sounds like health food to me.

Hmm, I am in Canada, Southwestern Ontario, and I have no problems finding pork rinds. I guess I am lucky! They used to sell them in a few flavours but now it is just plain that I can find.

Also, I went to an Asian market *That also has Latin foods.* they were selling them in huge bags. Chiccarones?**Sp?* I didn't expect to see them there!

I've only been able to find one kind, Old Dutch Bac'n Puffs..plain.

Better than nothing!

Only a Canuck would "get it", eh?

I laughed my a$$ off at that, and I'm not a Canuck. I'm a former Alaskan, which is kinda the same thing. In a way. And we always had the same problems getting stuff. 'Cept, i don't know about the igloos. We never had one of those.

This is the brand and place I buy them. I can get them plain and bbq flavor. I don't eat them every day, but I do eat them regularly. I take them with me to restaurants to dip in salsa, queso, etc. Also dip at home in same and other types of dips - ranch, french onion. They are the ultimate lc chip for when you are craving crunchy, snacky.

I carry them with me when I'm out of my element - just like I carry nuts. They are a safe, <healthy>, go-to snack.
