And notice that as usual, the allegedly objective reporting media writes their bias in as well.

If cows are emitting so many green house gases - and are therefore bad

And if plants convert co2 and greenhouse gases to oxygen - and are therefore good

Why am I doing something wrong?

1. I am killing and eating the bad thing - and leaving the good thing in place. She is killing the good thing and leaving the bad thing.

2. I only need to kill a couple of cows per year to live. She kills thousands of plants every year.

I think she is just a cold blooded serial killer of good plants. And She is the one destroying the environment.

Why on earth is anyone worrying about greenhouse gases, and warming? Or has everyone forgotten the scare about global cooling 30-some years ago? If you aren't old enough to remember that one, look up global cooling on Google...

I haven't forgotten. There was a lot of propaganda about the next coming ice age back in the 70's. Ironically, one of the same guys is allegedly now involved with the global warming scare (it is in the book "An Inconvenient Book" by Glen Beck. I heard about it but have not yet read it.)

Then there was the landfill scare of the 80's...according to the scare mongers of the time, we were all supposed to be buried under several feet of garbage by now.

And then there was the population crisis...the acid rain crisis...and the great topsoil crisis....it just goes on and on. A new bunch of lies with the same agenda. Grab more money, grab more power, promote more government control...blah blah blah.

I'm the queen of skeptics, and I have been reading a lot on global warming lately. The handful of global warming skeptics are backed by the fossil fuel industry. Just as the pro-low-fat, high-carb research scientists and doctors receive funding from big Pharma and big Food for studies and unversity chairs, the scientists who discount the peer-reviewed evidence around global warming publish studies are funded by Exxon-Mobil and other big oil proponents. As Deep Throat said, 'Follow The Money".

Basically you have thousands of scientists in 120 countries who have studied and published research around climate change for decades vs. a handful of climate skeptics bought and paid for by big oil and other industries whose bottom line depends on climate change denial.

Uhhh...so where is my check from the oil companies? Oh yeah! I don't get one!

Is the climate changing? YES! It changes all the freaking time! Alaska used to be a steamy swamp. Colorado used to be an ocean. Crops used to grow on Greenland. Wisconsin used to be buried under a sheet of ice (at least the top part).

Crippling the US economy isn't going to stop the weather from changing. And before you start blaming SUV drivers for the change, maybe you should research the pollution emitted from coal fires in China.

The global warming "crisis" is just another in a series of scare attempts. The pattern is easy for anyone to see. Obesity crisis anyone???

So I guess the only question left to ask myself is how many billions will die, and if I'm going to be one of them.

I guess my only question is which point in history do we want to stop our weather? And how many billions will die as the governments of the world "fix" it?

Government, the same people who brought you the low-fat, high carb diet and the DMV...controlling the weather.... ::shudder::

Actually, scientists who believe that global warming is directly related to human activity are in the minority. Many of those who joined the global-warming bandwagon did it to get access to federal research funds (30 years ago they were at the global-cooling money trough). If you look at Al Gore's charts, you will see that we've had much more signifcant global warming & cooling phases over geologic time. Future projections are just that - predictions based on only a few variables, studied by those with global warming bandwagon funds. There are many journal articles refuting their scientific methods that someone like Gary Taubes should delve into. The fact that Al got on his (energy-consuming) lift to highlight these predictions, instead of the well-constrained geological data, suggested to me that even he knows that he is glossing over the facts if he has to resort to such a pathetic gimmick.

Find a geologist who believes in global warming caused by people. Danged hard to find. That's because they can tell you about many, many other periods just like the current one.

Geologists do study earth & atmospheric processes in recorded history too. So do astrophysicists.

I think there's more than a handful. This is not my topic of interest, but it's one of my ex's.

On the side of The World Is Ending, "The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change" is a group of 2500 people total from 120 countries (as you mentioned above), mostly scientists, who have published in favor of the global warming hypothesis. Their most recent report released just a few days ago:

Human-driven-global-warming.pdf

When I sent that to my ex he wrote (and he studies this in depth for years, I don't):

The pamphlet that was attached is a scam. These 2500 scientists... many of them objected that their name appeared with its publication, because many of them had signed their contribs in opposition, and now they are being used to buttress this crap.

The semi-last word is that the NASA data used to co-produce the hockey-stick graph turned out to be based on error. It squarely puts the recent warmest period to 1929-1933, not around 2000, as has been beaten around like a dead horse.

Anyway, the document linked above supports your view. But so far what little I've been shown on the 'alternative' side of the theory, seems pretty convincing.

As a political tool, "The Sky Is Falling/ World Is Ending" approach is as good a controlling factor as any religious element ever was. That does not mean it's wrong, of course!

I'm not so worried about the governments of the world fixing it as I am about the government of the world fixing it. The UN wants the ability to tax, legislate, you name it. They need a crisis like this. I'm not talking conspiracies here; I'm talking about the right out in the open push for more power.

It's a legitimate concern Teaser. What do you think the whole Kyoto Treaty was about?

Dave Foreman, founder of Earth First: "Phasing out the human race will solve every problem on Earth, social and environmental."
Jacques Chirac: "Kyoto is the first component of an authentic global governance."
Prince Philip, World Wildlife Federation: "If I were reincarnated, I would come back, return to the Earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels."
Helen Cox, Union of Concerned Scientists: "free enterprise really means rich people get richer. They have freedom to exploit and psychologically rape their fellow human beings in the process. Capitalism is destroying the Earth. Every time you turn on an electric outlet, you are making another brainless baby."
Michael Oppenheimer, Environmental Defense Fund: "The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States. We cannot let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization we have in the U.S. we must stop third world countries right where they are."
Stephen Schneider, lead UN IPCC report author and global warming alarmist (this is also one of the guys who authored one of the original reports that started the global cooling scare of the Seventies.): "To capture the public imagination, we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have. Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective and being honest."

"Global Warming" is a socialist power grab...so was every other "crisis" shoved down my throat in the public schools since the 70's.
